Out of this planet Earth.
I like the movie because it has a message in it. Nothing is always the way we know about it or others told us about. You have to look at the film with new eyes and open mind to really understand the message, because is different for everyone.

it was fine - thank goodness Jessica Tandy was there
My visiting brother wanted to watch Cocoon (the original first one) and we ordered this by mistake. Oh well, we decided to watch it since I paid for it. It didn't have the sweet charm the first one had. I was bored for some of it, and rolled my eyes at other parts of it. It was okay, but I'd not watch it again. Even the parts that were supposed to be emotional and sad didn't feel deep...? or ...? I didn't feel much. The shining actor and character was Jessica Tandy. I adore her. She's beautiful and talented and I can watch her in anything. Likely if she wasn't in this version, I'd have liked it even less.If you liked the original one, don't expect the same sweet feel with this one. If you just want to see what happens to the characters 'after' the first one, then watch it but don't expect much.

It's 90% as amazing as the first one.
The first Cocoon is a favorite of my childhood. My mom and I often watched both the first and second Cocoon movies back to back on VHS and loved every minute of them both. I would say that you need to have seen the first movie to properly enjoy Cocoon 2. It's just a great , essentially family friendly movie that easily manages the balance between comedy and drama in a heartwarming, but not too cheesy manner. I found a used copy of the first movie at my local video store and needed the second one to complete the set as a gift for my mom. I can't wait to see her face when she opens them! If you loved the first one or other great movies like Batteries Not Included or Grumpy Old Men then this is a film to add to your collection.

Bought the wronf item
I thought I was purchasing Cocoon the original. I have never seen it, so I won’t watch this one until I do.

Overkill
I'd like to give this sequel at least 3 stars but the more I thought about it the less I felt it deserved that. They play up the old people acting young too an overkill in this sequel. The relationships between the characters lacks the first one's heart. It's just overall, a very silly cheesy sequel.

Sweet 80s film full of love
I saw this as a young child and as far as I can recall loved it then but after watching it again recently I have come to love the two films even more. I am a huge fan of modern films like X Men, the Marvel films and the Hobbit, but there is something about a lot of films from the 1980s that just captures your heart like nothing else. And this film, and the original Cocoon, are definitely those kind of films. The actors are very sweet at times and make me cry! It has an innocence to it as well. Something that seems to be lost on most of the films around now.

Great Sequel!
The first Cocoon was an awesome 80s film and definitely a tough act to follow. As with most classic films, it is difficult for these to be followed up with a sequel that is even half as good, purely because of the high level of expectation generated by the original.I have to say I enjoyed this almost as much as I enjoyed watching the original Cocoon. I don't think its better, but its not very far off at all.The storyline is great and leads on well from the original movie, the old faces are still there and the acting is tidy.Definitely well worth watching.

A funny film of old age
We originally watched this film some years ago and recalled that it was a laugh so decided to buy it. It remained true to our( rather vague) memories and was just as entertaining. Whether you are a ''sci-fi'' fan or just looking for a pleasant story with a twist I would recommend it to all ages. It has grandparent/grandchild love, young love, old love and a lot of smiles.

Improved enjoyment on second viewing
I don`t wish to quote the incidents or attempt an intellectual analysis of Cocoon 2, just to admit that I found the storyline thin, with some humorous scenes, but not very interesting extra-terrestrials, except where they would whizz around in their light body . However, on further viewings the personalities of the old folks did grow on me and I joined in the spirit of the film better .It grew on me.

First one is better
Not nearly as fantastic as the first one. It is light and entertaining but doesn't have the charisma that the first one had. Although you do see a very early appearance on Courtney Cox who was brilliant.
