Weber # 60393 Genesis/Summit Thermometer Without Tab

I retrofitted this onto a Weber 14" Smokey Joe. It's been six months now and no complaints. The stem is long so you need to position thick pieces of meat/fish/chicken away from it on the grill. Do not be afraid to drill into the Smokey Joe lid to attach this--you can find YouTube videos to guide you. I am a klutz but did it perfectly following the videos. After drilling the hole but before attaching this thermometer, I suggest you apply a couple of generous coats of Rust-Oleum High Heat Ultra paint to prevent rust from forming around the hole.

I retrofitted this on to my 22” Weber charcoal grill lid like I’ve seen other people do. I’ve grilled out several times with it and find it very useful to monitor the temperature inside the grill.

Replaced my thermostat on my 20 year old Genesis with this more accurate and newer model, had to do a little drilling and cutting on my grill for fitment since this is a bigger unit with thicker probe but in the end it turned out well.

The wing nut makes it easy to install, but it’s missing a small metal key that kept the old thermometer from spinning as you tighten the new one in place. Works like a charm though.

We have the Weber Genesis II LX S-440, which has been an outstanding grill for several years. When I noticed that the temp gauge was reading too high, I ordered this replacement gauge. Installation was as simple as loosening and re-tightening one wing nut. One side note for consideration is that this gauge can be purchased with or without a “tab.” I really didn’t understand the difference until I noticed the slot in our grill for the “tab” which prevents the gauge from rotating while it is being tightened into position. I was able to hold the gauge steady while tightening but if I have to order again, I will absolutely get the one with the “tab.”

I’m glad I didn’t go with the cheaper aftermarket version.
