Deluxe edition includes four bonus tracks. 2013 release, the second album from British singer/songwriter Birdy. The album sees Birdy come to the forefront as a songwriter in her own right, having written/co-written all of the 11 tracks on the new album. Collaborating with some of the biggest names in the business including Ryan Tedder (Beyoncé), Dan Wilson (co-wrote and produced "Someone Like You" for Adele), Rich Costey (Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Sigur Ros) and Ben Lovett from Mumford & Sons, whom she's collaborated with in the past. She's also worked with musicians including Rage Against the Machine bass player Timmy C and Paul Jackson Jr.. and Omar Hakim (Daft Punk's band on their album Random Access Memories).

one of a kind beautiful vocal, and innovative composition influence me every day
Birdy's albums are the must collections for me.I hesitated but didn’t got to purchase the imported deluxe version, but I played all the extended version songs on YouTube and Spotify every time I listen to Birdy. I really see her hardworking and improvement since her self-titled debut album, and her diverse music genre, one of a kind beautiful vocal, and innovative composition influence me every day. I was so amazed by her 2011 Live in London EP that she could cover “The A Team” so perfectly in her own style, and I was so glad to attend her concert one year ago in Fonda Theatre. These are the golden memories.Out of the album, you should definitely check out “Words as Weapons,” “Strange Birds,” “Maybe,” “No Angel” and “Light Me Up” first, and I dare you will be stunned by each song. Her New Album “Beautiful Lies” also hit the ground so hot, and I loved every single record <33It’s also worth to mention that Birdy got pop star friends & mentors helped her with the album such as Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic) for “Words as Weapon” and “Wings” and Sia for “Strange Birds.” Her producer for “All You Never Say,” “Maybe,” and “All About You” was Dan Wilson, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter graduated from Harvard University with summa cum laude honor. Much diversity and expertise in this amazing alblum alone with Birdy’s piano & vocal talents.

Good CD but CD case arrived chipped and cracked
Be careful what your CD ships with. Mine was boxed with a can of coffee and batteries. It must have battered the CD.I've gotten other cds from Amazon without issue but this one arrived with jewel case cracked on the front edge, the CD interior clip that holds the CD in place is shattered as well so it does not firmly hold the CD in place. However, looking that the CD I did not see any damage. Playback was intact on first play through as well. The product itself-- I'd listened to the songs already on Amazon Prime previously and the CD reflects the quality of those songs as heard on Prime. I'm disappointed the jewel case suffered damage but for a lot of people that doesn't matter much these days. There was a very minor scuff on the album cover.

Good, but not the artistic gem I was expecting.
I loved Birdy's first LP. Even though it was mostly covers, it really piqued my interest w/ its downtrodden, simpler, piano-centric approach. So I had very high expectations for her sophomore release. It appears to be aiming for a broader audience, and is far more pop friendly than her last. It makes sense to me she'd take this route, but I don't know if I'd recommend this one as enthusiastically. It's not a matter of her talent, b/c she clearly has it. Although there are lyrical cliches and some very dated electronic drum/digital sounds, this album still works. I simply skip the filler tracks and focus on the deeper, more serious ones. I doubt pop culture will embrace her on a large scale, so depending on your musical tastes, your mileage may vary.

Amazing talent
What I like the most is. What she has to say and how she words in. Each song has somthing to say. Not just a song to fill radio time.

So good!
One of my favorite albums of this past year.Birdy has an incredible voice and it's neat to hear the evolution of her sound a bit. Also, she wrote or co-wrote all of the songs on the album.I love all of the songs, but my favorites right now are Words as Weapons (love the lyrics..."If you use your words as a weaponThen as a weapon, I'll shed no tears"), The Same (makes you think), and Light Me Up (really fun and different sound from the previous album).

Nailed it!
There is not much to say other than this album is awesome. One always has to wonder what someone's original material will sound like when their first album was all covers. Clearly Birdy knows how to write! There is a great mix of song styles that really shows off Birdy's talent. There is not a single song on this album that i dont like.I can say with confidence that if you liked her first album you will absolutely not be disappointed with Fire Within.Note: i do not own the deluxe edition, but there was no place to review the "standard edition"

Flawless
I'm very happy to see Birdy release an album of her own work. I love how different it is compared to the first one, it's not just Birdy and her piano any more and it proves what a great and versatile artist she is. My personal favourite is 'Light Me Up', this song has so much power in it. It's such a pleasure for me to see someone growing up as an artist and becoming better and better :)

fire within,
when first playing this CD, it was quite different from Birdys first one ! on further playing i am knocked out by it the words are very touching & musically it is Beautiful , the arrangement are very slick & tight just like the cd's of American artists !! Birdy ranks for me along with the Great Female singers /songwriters & you have to go back & keep playing here cds /songs.there are a couple of tracks that i am finding it slow to like ? but i feel they will warm to me eventually ,her latest Cd is yet to arrive & i am eagerly waiting for that one ,add this to your collection like her 1st it will be a classic Cd . jewells

" After founding out more about this individual I was amazed to find out that she was still so young
I first became aware of this talented young musician and singer when I watched this year's annual Festival of Remembrance from the Royal Albert Hall, where she played and sang "Wing's." After founding out more about this individual I was amazed to find out that she was still so young. A very gifted and talented musician, singer and song writer. This cd/album is excellent, I recommend it to everyone who likes great music. We will hear more about this young lady in the near future I'm sure. Purchase this.

For the vinyl buyers.
I'm not going to review the music, its great, I'm going to write a quick review for the vinyl fans. I already had the CD and fancied the vinyl. Is it musically better, no is the honest answer. As for the vinyl and packaging. The vinyl is housed in a good quality gatefold sleeve that has a light texture in feel, the inner has an image on one side and lyrics printed on the other and is also good quality. The vinyl itself is 180g, a good solid lump. I have to say that my copy is a bit poppy even after Two cleans on my Moth RCM. I had trouble actually believing the rubbish i removed from this new vinyl, it had the texture of brick dust and quite a lot of it at that, the second clean removed more and has got the pops to a more acceptable level. It is a good idea to clean your vinyl, even if it is new.

Already an all-time favourite
I loved Birdy's performance on her first album, but the experience was ruined by the simply awful sound production. No such problems this time, everything is spot on.Still very young, Birdy has so much talent it's truly awesome; I've played this album over and over and I love every single track. It's now firmly established as one of my all-time favourites and I don't think that will change over time.Buy it and enjoy; this album is fabulous!!!
