Glad to see "SOS Help For Emotions" come to Kindle!
I've struggled with anxiety and on/off depression for several years and have mainly treated it with counseling and medication. A few years ago I stumbled upon the term "emotional intelligence" which led me to discovering Dr. Lynn Clark's book, "SOS Help for Emotions". To be honestly, I first saw the cover of the book and thought it looked kind of silly. But after reading several positive reviews, I thought I would give it a shot.It takes you through a guided step-by-step process to help you identify the negative thoughts that frequently run through the minds of those who struggle with anxiety. In the book, these thoughts are called "self-talk". The book is also written in a way that helps reiterate the things that you've learned in each chapter to help you build upon your newly found "emotional intelligence".I'm a very visual learner. The cartoons, illustrations and simple diagrams in this book helped me immensely! There are also a bunch of printable resources that you can download for free on Dr. Clark's "SOS Programs" website.I'm excited that "SOS Help for Emotions" was just released for the Amazon Kindle. Now I can use Amazon's Kindle App on my smart phone to access the book whenever I need it for reference. On a side note, from personal experience, please know that a single book can't be the end-all/be-all for any mental illness. Reaching out to others and seeking counseling should always be sought after. I also credit my personal relationship with Christ and my faith in God that helped carry me through my deep struggles.

Boundaries
If you’re angry you may not be open to listen to this book. It takes a while. But these methods work. I can’t say I’m good at any of it. But at least I’m aware and try to change the thought process.

Practical and easy-to-read
At first, I was a bit turned off by how simple the language was--not to mention the goofy cartoons. However, I was looking for help and it was recommended to me by someone I trust, so I just swallowed some of the goofiness and... it has been extremely practical and helpful! I haven't even finished the book yet, and I find myself catching irrational thinking and improving my day-to-day life already. I think this is the most helpful self-help book I have ever read.Don't hesitate, buy this book!

Excellent book
I work with in education with youth who have behavioral disturbances. I use examples from this books to help with "crooked thinking" that may lead to behavior outburst. Based on evidenced base psychology, but presented in an easy to understand format. I also use it to help parent understand how to help their children. Great book!

Great examples of RET
I have used this book for years with Middle school and even High School students. For lower readers or anyone who doesn't want a TOO heady self help manual. Many young people are not as willing to read self help books but this one makes the concepts of RET accessible by use of cartoons and great examples. Makes RET much more accessible.

Made my anxiety worse
Very difficult to follow making it hard to read. Layout and cartoons are distracting. Definitely not for lay people to read and understand. Instead of helping it made my anxiety worse.

This is a must have for anyone looking for self help or to help an other. Highly recommended.
After purchasing 'SOS help for emotions' Kindle edition, I had some trouble with the links. I emailed Lynn the author and got an immediate response, and a fix for it, since then Lynn has got the issue fixed properly and amazon has updated my original copy.I purchased this book to aid my counselling, I am a school counsellor and am always on the lookout for new books to help with Ideas. This book is not full of new ideas just tried and tested techniques backed up very succinctly with the theories referenced back to some very well known and trusted psychiatrists, worded in such a way that anyone can pick it up, read it and understand it. The way the book is written makes it easy to dip in and out of it. A fantastic resource for any counsellor as a whole book to lend or give to clients plus it links to a website full of resources to use in sessions. This is a must have for any counselling tool kit. I find myself quoting out of this book most if not in all my sessions. I cannot recommended this book highly enough.
