Great!
We have a beautiful chessboard pass down from our grandmother, but the pieces were missing. We chose this set and it looks beautiful on there. It would be nice if the pieces were a little bit heavier, but they are a nice size and I think for the price, its a good value.

Good for the money
Checker pieces are 1 1/4 inch diameter. Chess pieces have little detail but for $16 you can’t beat it!!!

Better than expected
The series "Queen's Gambit" inspired me to finally buy a chess set, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it. I was pleasantly surprised when these peices arrived. They are nicer than I expected and they fit well on the Husaria No. 5 chess board that I bought to go with them. I'm hardly a connoisseur (I've only ever had plastic and cardboard chess sets) but I really like these pieces. I'll probably buy a second set so that I have spares for when the kids inevitably loose some.

Nice for the price.
All pieces arrived with no damage. Overall, good quality for the price i paid for. The stains were not all even, but can't complain with the price.

Just what I was looking for!
I was looking to replace a chess set that had been damaged and discarded and this is a great replacement. The size of the pieces works for my chess board which is 20" X 20". Some of the pieces do have small marks or blemishes in the finish and I think it just adds character to the set. Unless you are looking for a display chess set, this is the perfect set for family and friends to play chess.

You get what you pay for....
These are very reasonably priced wood-based chessmen. At the advertised price for an entire set please don't expect too much. Here are my points about this item:-made from very lightweight softwood-very thin felt base which does not cover entire base so will be noisy moving around on a hardwood chessboard-defects in the detailed carving are numerous. Obviously hand done, and not in any craftsman fashion!-poor quality varnish coating, unevenly done over most of the pieces-a few pieces have obvious wood defectsNonetheless they will do the job.

Thought I was getting checker pieces also going by pics !! Chess pieces are good for price
