Q: Do these have a flap to prevent items from coming out of the pockets as pages are turned?

They are top-loading, so unless you turn the pages upside down, the items won't fall out. I recently moved and none of my notebooks full of postcards and envelopes/letters/cards/stamps/mail art had any issues. Another thing, if your items are relatively flat, the pages get a little static electricity to hold them in place.
