Yes it works
I agree that the price is too high ($46 for 3 balls and goo!) and I wound up having to buy a bicycle pump to inflate them too. But! I put these up 2 weeks ago and I have successfully trapped several yellow flies and at least 3 horse flies with no new goo application so far. I follows the directions and hung these on the corners leading to the shadiest part of my patio. Because I hung them from existing gutters, one is hanging on the corner where the brick changes to white stucco and the other is against a brick wall near the corner. The one on the edge has caught a lot more flies than the one against the wall. Given the directions, I think it’s probably because the heat signature they give off is more apparent next to the cooler white stucco than the red brick. I won’t say we have no more flies, but their activity has significantly decreased, and I probably would have paid someone $50 to make that happen on any given evening that I got run off the patio into the house to escape biting flies before. I am not sure if you can buy the goo or the balloons separately ? I haven’t looked. Also they are bigger than I expected them to be (full on beach ball size!) and not pretty. You will have to figure out how to hang them; I have a third I am going to put by the garage on a shepherd’s hook I bought at the garden center. So again it’s a pretty big investment to catch some flies, but I have definitely caught a noticeable number of flies.

Bug ball works!
I was very skeptical as I had never heard of “Bug Ball”. After getting terrorized by these biting demons (deer, yellow and horse flys) painting my house, I was willing to try anything! Before I had the first one up it already had one on it so I was excited. The picture is after one week in the worst spot in my yard. I highly recommend.

Die yellow fies!
Living in north Florida, we have yellow fly season in the late spring and fall. It's horrible. These black balls may look ridiculous, but yellow flies love them. At the end of the yellow fly season, these things are covered with the corpses of dozens and dozens of yellow flies, which brings me joy.

It works!!!
The media could not be loaded. This ABSOLUTELY works to catch those evil, biting, yellow deer flies! In this video, the trap has been hanging for only 4 days! It was also very easy to set up but you will need a basketball hand pump! I live in Florida & have not seen any evidence of the glue dripping off which I was concerned about. I used rubber throwaway gloves to rub a small amount all over the ball. It does not have to be thick to catch them & therefore, no drips! (I recommend hanging the ball in place & then apply the glue last.) It can be rained on & it will not affect the stickiness at all as I catch a large amount after a rain. We used a plastic hook (made for hanging your Christmas lights to your roof) to hang it from the house & it works great!! Buy the trap!!! It works!!!

Success in just hours
Read several reviews that said the solution wasn’t sticky enough, decided to clean ball after inflation with IPA to remove what I assume is separation medium from fabrication,Coated with a thick coating of included adhesive, caught first yellow fly within an hour and the next day has already caught over 20. They seem to be aggressive in west central FL, but haven’t been attacked today and it has been quite pleasant!

Bug Goop Washes Away in the Rain
This is my 3rd year of buying bug balls. They worked great the first year. Last year I bought them with spray glue, but the glue washed away in the rain. This year I went back to the can of glue with a ball applicator, but it still does not last. Every time it rains, the goo washes off. Since it rains frequently in Florida, the balls are useless again this year. Disappointing!

It works!
Put it by my pool in Florida. No yellow/horse/deer flies since. I'd give it 5 stars but the price is high for 2 black beach balls and some glue. Nevertheless the balls are well made. Only applied the glue once about 8 weeks ago.I was skeptical but it does work. If you aren't lazy like me just get the glue and paint a beach ball black. No more emergency plunges in the pool to escape the flies!

Ineffective
I purchased these based on some of the reviews and other sites. They were placed at various height and locations, as recommended, but none of them were successful. They have been a waste of time, money and effort. This has been a bumper season for horse flies and deer flies, and after a month of placement they have caught a whopping 3 deer flies and 1 horse fly (along with a butterfly, a moth and numerous knats). These were placed near and around the paddocks with horses and donkeys, where the flies are prevalent, but nothing. I have killed more horse and deer flies with my hands in one day then these have caught in a month.Packaging: The balls were shipped in bags, but the cans of adhesive were not and leaked all over the inside of the boxes and the contents.Adhesive: Like other reviews, application with the little brush was futile and time consuming. Also, because it went on so thick and clumpy with the brush, a lot of it melted and dripped off in the heat. Fortunately there was still enough on the surface to catch what it could. I also utilized a can of the spray adhesive on one of the balls, which remained on the ball, but was no more effective then the can stuff.Recommendation: Personally I will not purchase these again. I will purchased other adhesive and apply it to something else as the flies did not perceive these to be animals.
