These are great shoes!
I love Mephisto shoes - and these are no exception - comfortable right out of the box. They do run large, like the description says, so go at least a half size smaller. These shoes are a nice hydrid - casual enough for wearing around town in jeans, but dressy enough to wear with a jacket and tie to dinner. Love them!

Well made, worth the extra money, last longer
If you ever have any doubts about Mephisto, walk into a Mephisto store (they are typically in affluent areas). Try a pair on and you will get it. They either fit perfectly or require a very minor adjustment through the use of heel lifts to prevent ankle rub. One of the things the salesmen will tell you is that it takes longer to make one pair of these shoes than it does to assemble an automobile and it shows. The shoes are very well made. I typically wear one pair at a time and generally get 2 years of use before they really start wearing/falling apart. You can have them restored and resoled but there isn't that much that can be done when they are worn out. So its one of those things where you can pay $100 for a decent pair of Johnston and Murphy or Cole Haan or you can pay 3 times as much for a more comfortable shoe that lasts significantly longer. I also interchange these with a pair of Mephisto Nautics on the wknds. Highly recommend.

This is the second pair of shoes with the same problem
I buy these shoes because their first quality I have the moccasin version never had a problem. This is the second pair within a month. This problem is a rose. I don’t think it’s fair to take it to a cobbler to have it repaired when these shoes cost so much money, the first pair out of the box had this problem. The second pair took 24 days now they say I can’t return it very disappointed.

Mephisto's are the best feeling shoes right out of the box.
This is my second pair of Cap Vert slip-on's. Made a mistake on the first set as they are at least a 1/2 a size larger than my normal size shoes. This was a bit of problem with the first pair, but because I opted for a half size smaller the new shoes fit like a glove. Although Mephisto's are on the pricey side, the comfort and wear make up for the price. I also like that I can send them back for refurbishment.Great casual shoe that can be worn for hours on end in great comfort.

German version of a Penny loafer..
Comfortable with or without socks, although I prefer without with this model. It takes the germans to germanize the penny loafer. If you like a traditional penny loafer that is better built than american brands who now make them God knows where and whose quality has sunk tremendously, the german iteration of the penny loafer is a winner.

The best loafers I have ever owned.
These shoes are expensive but worth every penny. I bought my last pair of Mephisto Cap Vert loafers more twenty years ago. Every four or five years I send them back to Mephisto to be refurbished (soles, heels, inner base, resewn seams and refinished leather.) They come back looking like new for a very reasonable cost. I recently lost 60 lbs and my shoes were too loose so I ordered a new pair a size smaller and they fit perfectly and look great.

so far total satisfaction
took a chance on mephisto even though i had never tried them on. they are very comfortable and they have a good business/casual look. obviously not a suit shoe but trousers and dress shirt are good with these. they do feel a tad on the larger/wider side. i will look for a slightly thicker sock. quality definitely seems to be there. I have only had these for about 3 weeks. will update later if anything worth posting.

These shoes are good from the start
These shoes are good from the start, look great, and can be left out in the rain without ruining them. I bought my first pair when walking around in Venice, Italy to replace inferior shoes that fell apart while on the trip. It seemed like too much money at the time, but it has worked out great. It turns out they are really a bargain. That was three years ago, and I still wear the same shoes several times a week.
