Sauder Cottage Road Computer Desk with Drawers and Storage Shelves, Small Study Desk, in Soft White finish

I absolutely LOVE my new desk. It looks gorgeous and is the perfect size (I wanted something that wasn't too deep.). The instructions for assembly were well-done and the holes all lined up perfectly (unlike some of those "other" assemble-yourself brands). My husband put it together in a couple of hours without any assistance. The desk is sturdy and feels well-made. The drawers have the hardware for hanging files, although I did not need that function so left that off. I was able to feed my charging cable for my laptop into one drawer and my Mac fits perfectly inside while charging. The bottom shelves and sturdy (not quite wide enough for a standard printer). The top has a slight texture to it, but not so much that you couldn't write on it. I am very happy with it.

This desk is adorable and totally functional. I bought it for my home office and it looks awesome in there! I put this together by myself. It took 2.5 hours (I timed it because some reviewers said it took them 2-3 hours and others said it took 4+ hours). I should mention that when I assembled it, I was also eight months pregnant and sitting on a hard floor, so I swear, if I can do this, you can too. :) As noted in other reviews, there's a humorous element to the instruction booklet, which was fun. The product is made in the U.S.A. so that was a bonus, and it's likely the reason the instructions were actually readable. For the most part, pieces were easily-distinguishable. I did have to study the diagrams a bit to ensure I was putting all the little pieces of hardware where they were supposed to go, but better safe than sorry! I think the workspace is sufficient. I have an iMac desktop computer on one side and room to keep a large planner, phone, beverage, and even my company laptop on the desk at the same time. Only one of the drawers is a file drawer, and since the file folders go in sideways instead of facing you, it doesn't hold very many. That's fine because I have another file cabinet, but it would be cool if it held more. I added pictures because so many people were curious about it. The second drawer is the same as the first one (without the filing rack) so it's pretty deep. I'd recommend some kind of organizer insert if you aren't keeping large items in it. I really like this desk and I think it was a good purchase for the money.

Soft white desk by Cottage Road. Desk is finished on all sides with a lintel oak accent top and features two drawers with full extension slides as well as two lower shelves. Desk weighs approximately 90 pounds with dimensions of 53.9 x 19.4 x 29.8". Gorgeous, elegant, sophisticated desk. I wasn't excited about purchasing a 'work' desk for our home because I didn't want the desk to change the look or feel of our living quarters. However, this desk fits right in! This versatile desk looks professional and is functional enough for work, but looks charming enough to keep your home feeling cozy. The neutral colors make it easy to place. Desk is long but not very deep, so it may not work well for those who need lots of desk space. However, I have 2 floating monitors, a laptop, keyboard, mouse, some paperwork, and still have enough space for drinks, snacks, and cats to sit on my desk. The two drawers are great for filing and I like the small shelves on the bottom - the shelves are a great place to store routers, small printers, and office equipment. The smooth finish on the desk's surface also makes it very easy to clean. Desk is a bit heavy but installation was simple and straightforward. Very pleased with our purchase and would recommend to others. After many months of daily use, I am noticing some of the paint wearing off (namely around the legs and bottom shelves) - desk still looks good enough for me, but may not be as hardy as others.

Sturdy, beautiful, and worth the money. It's a great addition to our home and fits very nicely with our rustic/vintage decor. We recently put up some new walls with pallet wood details and the top of this desk matches them perfectly! Both side drawers hold at least 15 hanging file folders which I was very impressed with! The drawers open and shut very smoothly and quietly as well. It is extremely sturdy and strong. It comes with quite a lot of hardware and took several hours to put together but it was well worth it. My only suggestion is to occasionally use some Pledge or furniture polish on the top surface to keep it sealed and protected. It is a smooth surface but the top is real wood and not particle board or any cheap, manufactured material which just makes this desk all the better! We will be buying the matching chair to go with it as well to complete the set.

I love my new desk. This desk is very sturdy and heavy. I have bought and put together other pieces of furniture made by Sauder and they have always held up well. The instruction booklet is easy to follow, pieces are well labeled, predrilled holes match up good, and I didn't have any missing pieces. I am a 66 year old female and I was able to put it together by myself. My husband did help me get the box in the house when it was delivered since it weighed 170 lbs. I am using it as a study and art work desk on my sunroom. To help get the screws in, I rubbed the pointed end of the screw over the base of a candle. This helped ease the screws in, otherwise it would have been really hard on my arthritic wrist.

And functional: I put the file-hanging system in the left drawer, and can now have a filing cabinet built right into the desk! It took about two hours to assemble by myself but you REALLY have to examine the instructions: It's not an intuitive assembly. I'd suggest reading the instructions thoroughly, to get your head around the pieces and hardware, before even beginning. And do it page by page, don't try to skip ahead. I don't care about how much IKEA furniture you've put together... This desk is not like that. Seriously, set aside some time to make this. It will be great in the end but the assembly is definitely a learning experience. I just wish I could order more hardware to add a filing system for the other drawer.
