Beautiful, functional, arrived on time - and inexpensive. What's not to love.
I bought a wooden yarn bowl years ago, and it's pretty -- but far too light weight to be functional, so I couldn't use it. So I got tired of chasing the yarn ball on the floor which is like Boston terrier bait to my dog, Cookie. I looked at all of them on Amazon -- quite a few -- and aesthetically liked this one so took a chance for a little over $20 and went for it.First, it arrived one day early -- on a Sunday two days after I ordered. Second, it isn't broken and there were quite a few "it arrived broken" reviews, so i was nervous. And believe me -- I can see how it could arrive broken. The box looked beat up. My heart sank. It was wrapped in lots of bubble wrap however the box is small and I know from experience the box for ceramic items needs to be lots bigger than the item itself to have a good chance of arriving safely. But luck was with me -- my guess is most of them make it fine. Just saying they could put it in a bigger box with lots more bubble wrap to help ensure it comes safely. The next most important thing to me than "not broken" was "heavy enough" and it is. Nice and heavy and, as advertised, sits firmly on a table on its rubber feet.I'm working on a project so plopped the current yarn in the bowl and kept going. It pulls smoothly through the spot it is supposed to. All you have to do is make sure the bowl is oriented properly and the yarn will stay where it ought to, helps maintain tension while knitting, and there's absolutely nothing that will snag it.Everyone who said the bowl is more yellow than brown -- they are correct and that's what I was expecting after reading those reviews. So if that's going to upset you, just know it is a muted gold color. That being said, I think it's just gorgeous and that was also important. Despite when I'm working with it, as you might or might not tell from the photos, there's a Purell bottle behind it and a Tim Horton's coffee cup beside it, I still care that the bowl is beautiful. When I'm to using it, it will certainly be part of the living room.People griped a lot about the size but I wasn't worried. See photos. The one on the left is a partial ball from a 4 oz skein of worsted weight yarn that I'm currently working with. The next photo shows how the yarn sits when I'm working with it. You want it to be somewhat sideways to you to keep the yarn in its spot. The third picture just shows a full 4 oz ball from a skein of worsted weight yarn (same kind as the other). Still plenty of room. And the last photo shows how I can place everything nicely into it when taking a break. This bowl is plenty big enough for what I do. However, I wind every skein into balls like you see here with a yarn winder. (If you don't have one of those, seriously. You might want one.)One other note, I work the ball of yarn that I wound from my yarn winder from the outside of the ball, not from the inside so that it never collapses in on itself.Part of why we buy things are aesthetics so you like it or you don't. And part is what kind of yarn we are used to -- I always work from a ball. But I find it roomy, functional, and lovely. Very pleased for the price.

Even better quality than expected!
This bowl was beautiful and well priced for its size and weight! I purchased for a knitter and crocheted friend of mine, and she loved the beautiful designs as well as the heaviness of the bowl, which will prevent slipping. Additionally, I appreciated the small cushions on the bottom of the bowl to prevent scraping, and she said the holes to hold needles would be a great touch. Overall well made and well priced, I was impressed! It did arrive a bit dusty, but packaged safely with no damage. Highly recommend!

Beautiful!
This is such a nice yarn bowl. Ive been having trouble with my yarn getting dirty and the ball rolling all over the place. I by chance found out about a yarn bowl on youtube. I spent hours searching amazon for a bowl i liked and a good quality. I looked at the wooden ones but the bottom seemed rough. But i just happened upon this ceramic one on sale for mothers day. I love how smooth and heavy it is. Its very sturdy, but i wouldnt want to drop it. Also it has three felt pads on the bottom to prevent sliding. And its bigger than i thought it would be. It holds a big ball or large cake with ease. And the packaging was great. They ship it fully in styrofoam in a box that fits perectly around it. I dont think this thing can break in transit. Definitly worth the buy.

Nice sized for one, “BALL” of yarn not skeins.
This size is great for a ball of yarn, but won’t fit a long skein. Nice and sturdy with no catches, smooth surface.

Gorgeous!
The picture doesn't do it justice. Absolutely stunning. Purchased as a gift and was so pleased to give it.It will hold a wide variety of yarn sizes. Thick or thin, this will hold it. Also very attractive to have sitting out. The bowl came well packaged and arrived promptly. The only negative is that the bowl itself is not very heavy. This may or may not effect you depending upon the strength of your pulls. Overall very pleased.

Super cute!
This bowl is super cute and handy. My only complaint is it isnt big enough for a large skain of yarn .so you have to maneuver it around until it fits inside.
