Great Value Flea Combs for Pets This 4-pack of BRILLIRARE flea and lice combs has become a surprisingly useful addition to my pet care kit. Each comb is made from stainless steel with smooth, rounded teeth, so they don’t scratch my pets’ skin even when I’m going through thick fur. I like that they’re double-sided: one side is finer for detail work (like checking around the eyes and ears), while the other side works better for general grooming and dematting. The pack includes different sizes, which has come in handy since I have both a cat and a medium-sized dog. The smaller combs are easy to maneuver around my cat’s face for tear stain removal, while the larger ones are more efficient on my dog’s coat. They feel sturdy and don’t bend, unlike cheaper plastic combs I’ve used in the past. A couple of things to keep in mind: these combs work best when used regularly as part of grooming—they’re not a substitute for flea prevention treatments. With summer coming and the fleas heading out to land on the pets, even if you protect them. But this year was really bad in Florida for fleas. We have fleas all year round so fighting them off is a bit tricky. The monthly flea meds work great but sometimes the fleas will still keep coming. In between treatments we use the Vet's Best spray as it's all natural, and then use the combs to lift the fleas off. For the price you get a good amount of combs, we take some to work and leave some at home. We have one for travel as well as you never know when you are going to need one. Our Coco and long curly hair and these worked great to lift them from the body. They do not remove any hair in the process which is nice. For being plastic and metal the are really good quality for the price. The length of the combs got nicely to the depth of the hair to the skin so you can easily remove the fleas. for the price this was a great purchase and well made.
