should be 8 stars
Would like a larger version. Every year we make dried apples and now the slices are uniform and perfect thickness. Supper easy to use. Like other reviews, a larger version, better mate to bin. I freeze dry cantaloupe and a larger version would really get used. For the price, TEN stars. way better than ANY single blade cutter. LOVE this. Hope blade holds up. I would like to be able to buy a replacement blade down the road.

Adjustable Mandoline Slicer - not too bad for the money but I really want thicker
I purchased this thing (why are they called 'Mandoline' slicers?) because it's so hard to cut slices of onion for my burgers. It's super sharp and does slice the onions, but it could be a whole lot better. It's too narrow, so I have to pick red onions that are not too wide, but I really want onions that are wide so I can have wide slices! A wide onion rides up on the shoulders of the slicing tray and then you just get a wedge shaped slice which is not good. The other thing that isn't great is the thickness needs to go a lot thicker. Like double what it can currently do. I think the description said 3mm, but the slices come out more like 2.5mm, and I want slices that are 5mm thick. Why not make it able to create thicker slices? No one needs .001mm slices or whatever the smallest is. It comes with a little caddy with 3 other blades in it. Two of those are for dicing, one narrow or normal, which I use also to create chopped onions for putting on sausages (yum). The other wide, don't know what I'd use that for. I forget what the third one is.Definitely use the included food pusher thing. The blade is wicked sharp. So are the blades on the dicing attachments. I thought, nah, there's plenty of onion, my fingers aren't even close. Wrong! I pulled my hand back really quickly or I would have sliced off an even bigger chunk of my thumb than I did. Doh! I always use the pusher thing now no matter how much onion I've got. Took at least a week to heal enough to not need the bandage anymore.

Best choice!
Best choice of a mandolin for the price! I've paid more for one and not been as happy! So easy my teens and hubby all use it without any problems. 😉
