The Complete Book of Scales, Cadences & Arpeggios Paperback – October 1, 2015

I liked it very much. I used it for one of my music classes in college!

I'm certainly not familiar with all of the very many music books, but, I am familiar with many. In my opinion, this is THE best single book for scales, arpeggios, etc. It has all the fingering for both single octave scales, double octave scales, and covers all of the major and minor keys. Plus, other basic, helpful stuff. Same for Brimhall's 3 part theory notebook. If I had one wish, it would be that the theory notebook had a spiral binder as did the older volume from decades back. But, content wise, it's the most complete and furnishes the most bang for the buck from absolute beginner up through intermediate. It has in a single volume what you would need to purchase 2 or more books for from other publishers of similar books. For any new student 10 years old and up, they couldn't go wrong by purchasing the scales book and the theory notebook.

The layout is much improved. It’s easy on the eyes - good size text. Best book of its kind that I’ve found in the last 40 years. Highly recommended.

It’s more basic than I thought. I wish that I had been able to see inside before I purchased it. I already have something similar. It also came damaged. It’s not unusable but one thing that I prefer about buying things in the store is making a selection. There’s black smudge on the top. The spine is ripped and the book is bent. I paid almost $20 for this.Overall the content is good but again for beginners which I am not. I might return it. Not sure yet.
