Surprisingly hard to get in place.
I thought this would be the perfect solution for cotter pins that were had to place on the hitch pin. Surprisingly, the pivoting lock tended to pivot inside the hitch receiver, making it difficult to put all the way through. Once I finally go it in, the pivot latch was a breeze to flip and it held securely.I'm afraid I wouldn't recommend it.

Better than pin clips
Purchased three of these. The keeper clips in the hitch pins were very loose fitting, so I drove the pins put, reshaped the tabs, reassembled and now they work perfect. This should have been done during manufacture, so minus 2 stars. They are MUCH better than fighting with pin clips or losing pin clips.

Good value
Easy to use design. Good for use with light to moderate size loads. Stick with the standard design for more security for heavy loads, but those are much tougher to set and you can loosed the securing pin in your'e not careful. That's another upside to this design. Can't loose the pin because its built in. I've had this design for 20 years with good luck on a Tacoma and was very happy to see that they were still made. Bought 2. However, I don't use this design when pulling heavy equipment with my full-size Dodge.

Great pin, works like a champ
I hate the pins with grooves for the retaining clips so was looking for one with just a hole. Found this one with the pivot lock and just love the concept. No more loose parts. It is good and secure along with being convenient! This one is longer than what my installation needs, but not a problem at all.

A Hit
This works nicely. Any product that has less separate parts to lose is good for me. It also does not require the hand strength sometimes needed to insert the standard spring clip. I have no idea whether it will hold up in a corrosive environment - we do not have a boat trailer and we do not leave ours installed.Note that this is 5/8" diameter - not one half inch - so it may not fit some light duty pieces like bike racks.

So Far So Good
I have a trailer that had 1/2in shafts with pins to hold up the tailgate. I kept dropping the pins and lost one. With these, it's much easier and they work great.I also have the 5/8in hitch pin, but a little apprehensive to use it to hold that much stress. I'll use it for local trailering.

Works great for low-clearance installations!
Works great. Have only used it once, but I don't have a lot of clearance when putting a pin in, so a traditional cotter pin setup wouldn't work. I remembered I had one like this years ago on a different vehicle and was happy to find it here on Amazon!I've only used it once, though so I can't comment on rust, but you should never leave your hitch/pin in when you're not towing anyway if you don't want it to rust.

It's exactly what it looks like & what you think it will be like
It's exactly what it looks like & what you think it will be like. You will not be surprised, it's a good pin. Arrived quickly & was slightly less expensive than at the big box home improvement store
