Excellent condition. Great content

Prior to purchasing this book, my exposure to BGP had been through the CCNP course documentation. When I picked this text up to get a fuller understanding of BGP, I was impressed with how easily this text read. The first portion provides a solid framework to understand the configuration examples exhibited in later sections. As good as this text was though, I agree with some of the reviewers that additional reading is probably a good idea. I finished this book with the feeling that there were many more details to learn about that may not have been covered or weren't covered far enough in depth.

Excellent BGP reference; despite being from Cisco Press, only at the very last two chapters there are direct references to Cisco Products.

If you are a network engineer, this is a must haveVery comprehensive read on BGP - my first and only book on this subject :)

Still the authoritative book on BGP. Best book to learn BGP and study for the CCIE LAB Exam. Waiting for the 3rd edition.

...the first edition was the standard-bearer for information on BGP (so much so that everyone I know called it "The BGP Book"). After briefly reviewing the second edition I know what they meant. This book covers EVERYTHING you ever wanted to know about routing at the ISP level. Lots of technical information, and the content is significantly more thorough and detailed than other Cisco books. Have only skimmed through this book so far but have found information that I didn't even know exsisted.Excellent buy

Cisco is at the forefront of Internet Technology and their books are easily amongst the best written and illustrated on this subject. I have known of this particular publication for some time but its new price was well outside what I could reasonably afford. As a secondhand book it can become a real bargain, which is what influenced me to buy this copy. Buying secondhand is always risky because you cannot be certain as to its true condition and you have to be guided by the seller's description of its condition. Externally the book looked in excellent condition for the year but inside I found a few pages had been liberally annotated by a previous owner using a fine black felt pen. Underlines and comments in the margins and on diagrams were found on a dozen or so pages. Also, a few pages has yellow highlighting across certain words, phrases and headings. I would never treat a text book of this quality in this fashion so I was determined I would try and repair some of the damage. All of the black ink marks were easily eradicated using white correction fluid to obliterate the comments. I can do nothing to eradicate the highlighting, which I will have to live with. But none of these marks, although very annoying, damaged the book beyond use. It is perfectly readable. For this reason I have awarded 5-stars for the book, which I am very pleased to have obtained at long last and a knockdown price. I doubt you could buy a better reference book.

This is the second book that I have had to read in order to fully understand the workings of the internet and how BGP really works ! I could have done it a little faster by initially just buying this book !
