Good yarn, dyes well.
It arrived with a very strong smell of sheep/lanolin, but I don’t personally mind that too much. I just threw a drier sheet in the bag the hanks came in, problem solved. The yarn is soft and it takes acid dye very well. It’s the perfect blank canvas for anyone wanting to experiment with dyeing yarn! All in all, can’t complain, it’s a genuinely solid deal for the price. I can’t wait to work with it more!

Soft and Dyable
I can't say enough good things about this yarn! It's nothing short of beautiful. The softness is remarkable, making it a delight to work with. One of the standout features is the generous amount of yarn per skein. It feels like you're getting great value for your money, as each skein goes a long way in your projects. The dye-ability of this yarn is also fantastic! It takes dye beautifully, producing vibrant colors that stay true after washing. Whether you're going for a solid color or a variegated effect, this yarn easily handles it. Overall, I highly recommend Aoyang yarn to anyone looking for high-quality yarn that is soft, abundant, and a dream to dye.

Good Quality for Price
So far I’m very impressed with this yarn. Super soft, great price, uniform color (undyed). Has a bit of a plastic smell but was packaged in plastic so will have to see if the smell will go away once it’s aired out. (I was a little nervous about smell when reading other reviews, but my yarns are not nearly smelly enough to cause an issue for me- although I have not gotten it wet) Have not yet knitted, blocked, or dyed it but for now I think it’s a great buy! All skeins were just over 100g (largest one weighing 104g without tag) so I’m really happy with that as well.

Great Sock Yarn For Dyeing At Home
As a yarn dyer, I can say that this sock yarn is very nice and a joy to dye. It's a fingering/sock weight yarn that takes up dye beautifully and can be machine or hand washed. When you receive these hanks of yarn, you'll first want to unwind each skiein and add a closable shower curtain hook before mordanting and then dyeing. It's easy to use and I can definitely recommend this product.

High Quality Yarn that is soft merino!!
Great quality yarn - if you need white yarn, this works. If you need undyed, I highly recommend this because it is soft and it is very nice. I used it doubled with a multicolor yarn for a shawl that called for two sock-weight yarns. It is a great price and I used 3 skeins of it in my project.

Used for color work
I needed a little bit of a lot of colors for color work socks, so I bought this and a Tulip Tie-dye kit and got to work. I found that this yarn smelled pretty bad right when I got it wet, but the more I rinsed it the better it got. It took the dye very well, any white spots I got were intentional to add some texture. It's very silky right out of the bad, and after dying and washing feels like a nice, soft traditional sock yarn. I have found its soft and smooth to work with, I haven't run into issues with splitting or losing stitches. I think this is a great, economic buy if you are looking to dip your toes into yarn dying.

Avoid at all costs: Yarn arrived FILTHY
I ordered a while ago and finally opened this pack, ready to start dyeing. The ends of 3/5 skeins are absolutely disgusting. They’re FILTHY, stiff and smell. It’s like they got dropped in dirty dish water or a toilet. I wish I’d opened the pack immediately and asked for a refund. Do not buy these. Go to knitpicks or another bare yarn supplier.

Great sock yarn
I bought this for Christmas presents and I am very pleased with how it knits up and how long the skein lasts. The yarn takes dye well and only gets a little fuzzy when wet.

For the price this is excellent quality yarn. I used it for dye practice and it absorbs colour beautifully. It was very good for my first try. It’s very soft, very light sheen, lovely drape and I am just about to buy more.
