Q: can you keep the watch in el light display mode?

No. After touching the light button, it will remain on for approximately 3 seconds.

Q: My wrist, at rest, measures 9.5in. when i am working out, it is bigger. will the band fit? if not, is there an alternative available?

I no longer have the watch so I can't measure a maximum diameter. All of the functions worked well but the problem I had to do with moisture/water. Even working up a sweat would blank out the face for 30 minutes or so. Hopefully my watch was unique in this respect so the 50m representation did not apply to my watch.
