Very effective for ankle pain and foot problems
I have used this ankle brace for years, and it is still in excellent shape after washing several times. It can be worn on either foot, with the short end on the foot and the long end on the ankle. My doctor had me go to a specialist to get this fitted, and the visit cost me $140. So the cost of only $29 here on Amazon.com is a real bargain. The brace is very effective for a weak ankle that occasionally needs support so I can walk. Without it, I would be limping or have to cut back on even normal daily activities. My left foot has a tendency to turn under me if I step on uneven ground or just a small pebble. This results in some swelling and pain. This brace reduces both and helps me heal. I take it off to put cold or warm packs on the swelling. I used it recently when tendonitis occurred in my tibial posterior tendon, causing pain and swelling from the inside of my instep, to up along the inside of my leg. If I wear it with white socks, I cut off an old white sock a few inches below the ribbed ankle part, then slide the tube-like piece of "sock ankle" over the top of the black brace, then put on my shoe. That makes both of my white socks match, instead of looking like I mistakenly wore one white sock and one black sock, as a friend had commented! I always hand wash the brace in cold water and hang in the shower to dry, overlapping the velcro ends on a plastic hanger. The directions with it are very important, make sure there are no wrinkles in the various fabrics when lacing up the brace, or they will be uncomfortable. It's a good idea to give your ankle a break from it after a few hours, taking the brace off, changing the sock that has perspiration from the brace, and resting the ankle on a footstool.
