The Awareness of Emerson (Emerson Series Book 3)

The Awareness of Emerson is the third novel I have read in the Emerson Series by G. Mitchell Baker. The first novel, The Involvement of Emerson, was about Jon, a disenfranchised father, becoming (re-)involved in the lives of his children. That first novel was brilliant.The second novel in the Emerson Series, The Consistency of Emerson is so creative, so imaginative ... the story lines are so unique and interesting, but always with something to learn ... a take-a-way. What I look for in a good read. Again, a step above the usual, hyped 400-page reading fodder I come across ... Baker really brings an honest effort to his character development and storytelling ... Thankfully, there is substance ... not simply titillation ... formula marketed 'ad nausea'.And now for The Awareness of Emerson, the third novel in the Emerson Series. The premise ... theme really, of this Series (I think I have it figured out), is that once Jon, the father becomes involved in his children's lives and the challenge is to remain consistently involved. Only with consistent involvement can he become more aware of, and appreciate the essential meanings in the lives of his children. I am so impressed ... This Emerson Series actually seems to be telling the story of how a father's heart can grow and become stronger.As for The Awareness of Emerson, it is perhaps the most relaxed novel of the three to read ... and I get that ... gone is the intense struggle to survive from The Involvement... story. Gone is the suffocating uncertainty Jon experienced in The Consistency... Now, in The Awareness of Emerson, there is struggle, and some uncertainty, but the directions are mostly positive ... the will to advance further into the meaning of his relationship with his children resolute... rewarding for all...At this third stage of my reading this Series, I have to say the investment has been worth it ... without question... I gladly give The Emerson Series 5 Stars, and The Awareness of Emerson 5+ Stars ... it is getting better, and I believe because this author is pushing for all he can to make this a world class read about fathers, modern child/teens, and, family relationships. These reads are not necessarily glamorous, sexy ... the blockbuster ... unless of course you are interested in learning more about a determined father and how to bring a family back together, and stay together.Ask yourself, when is the last time you read and learned something about a broken family being healed by the efforts of a determined father. I was privileged to read and learn about a broken family healing, given the efforts of a father made strong again and believe this story contributes one heck of a lot to the scape and milieu where the belief is, no matter what the test, there is reason to be optimistic about positive family relationships.Congratulations G. Mitchell Baker. Well done! I hope there will be a fourth novel in this series ...
