C&S Sweet Corn Squirrelog Refill Pack, 32-Ounce, 2-Pack

I have been using these for many years. They are ground up whole corn. When squirrels eat off of corn cobs they eat just the tiny germ and then discard the rest of the kernel creating a big mess.I live deep in woods virtually surrounded by State Park/Lake/Wildlife Habitat, Towns Habit, County Habits and Audubon Lands. Off my house is a tree level 30 ft X 30 ft deck with many METAL bird feeders on two sides hanging out into the woods. There is no way to totally protect them from the squirrels, who eat up plastic and wood, but using long, nearly horizontal hangers for feeders and safflower seeds for those that hang close to rails helps to discourage squirrel chewing. Squirrels aren't supposed to like Safflower but I have one pregnant female who eats safflower. ;(Anyway I keep two logs out at all times for the many, many wild (obese) squirrel "pets" that live here. I can usually go through "only" about 6 logs a week (and some wildlife feed scattered on deck) as long as I bring one of the logs in every night that the opossums steal if left out.I haven't observed any other birds showing much interest in the logs other than the Crows. They love them. We have several families of Crows who visit daily to eat the logs,Safflower seeds, and woodpecker's special suet (squirrels favor that one too).BTW... On the few occasions we run out of Squirrelogs and are not successful hitting the few stores around that carry them but always seem to be out we have had to use corn cobs. Between the crows and squirrels we have to replace the cobs every hour or so. AND THE MESS!!!!!This price from this seller is the best I have found even with shipping. And with one exception the packages from our local sources always have bugs in them ... the one that doesn't has the initials is PS.You wont go wrong getting this product. I used to use the little wood seat to hold the logs. After the novelty wears off a strategically placed screw holder that comes with some of the packaged logs works fine and gives appropriate viewing pleasure. One local seller sells packages that icludes a holder screw in each package; others sell packages without the screw holders. The prices are pretty close. I have a huge collection of the screw holders and haven't yet found another use for them.

These squirrel logs are great. We ordered the 2-pack to give them a try and they were such a hit we have ordered more. They are impossible to find locally so we get them here on Amazon.We have had significant problems with the squirrels stealing every tomato and eggplant out of the veggie garden this year. It's a mild summer here in Atlanta this year and we keep lots of water out in pans and bird baths for the critters and birds, so not sure why they wanted to enjoy plump green tomatoes and immature eggplant. We decided to try feeding the squirrels out away from the garden and purchased these logs, and that did the trick!We use these in the Belle Fleur 50116 Adirondack Chair Squirrel Feeder and they fit perfectly, screwing onto the screw in the char with the pre-drilled hole in the base of the log. We have anywhere from 15 to 25 squirrels around our home. As soon as we put these out they had guests. For us, one log lasts about a week. While we were waiting for our next shipment we used corn cobs bought locally and one of those lasted less than a day and made a mess; these logs have no mess and the squirrels eat the entire thing. These have worked really well for us, and the squirrels have stopped eating the eggplants and tomatoes!

I used to buy ears of corn specifically for the squirrels. They went thru them like a hot knife thru butter. I'd be replacing them almost daily. I got tired of the lack of consistency on Amazon in terms of sellers and prices of this corn so started looking for alternatives, and found these. I don't think the squirrels like them quite as much as the actual corn, but they do eat these and it takes quite awhile before they're completely gone. I'd say two of these would almost replace a full bag of ear corn.

I bought a feeder kit on a whim that came with one of these sweet corn logs, it took the squirrels a day or so to find it, but then they went crazy on it! It looked as if they were trying to figure out how to take the entire log with them, in fact at one point they managed to unscrew it from the holder (maybe it was just the movement that caused it to come off), I found it on the ground and the squirrels were trying to drag it off, I learned that I need to make sure the wingnut is fully tightened. We have quite a few squirrels in my neighborhood and since it is Winter/Spring season they are building up for breeding and whatnot, they gnawed this log away in about a week. I have since tried the Nut'N Sweet Corn log by the same company, they are not nearly as excited about that blend. I think I will stick with these delicious logs to keep the neighborhood squirrels happy! I absolutely love watching them hang from their hind legs on the tree like it is no big deal to get to this snack!

The squirrels absolutely love them!! In fact they have figured out a way to steal them,they are pretty crafty, I still like this product, it lasts much longer than real corn cobs.

You can often test food products on animals. In this case, the Squirrels do not like this product much. I saw a few nibbles in a week of viewing progress each day. My daughters found it quite entertaining some mornings.I would say Squirrels prefer the real corn. The 2nd squirrel log will probably be binned (composting bin). I did have one squirrel visit the process corn every day while it was available.Still the product is a good idea. I did bin the corn early, as it got wet and soggy. It also attracted some hungry ants. Just something to keep in mind.

I have had my first of the two logs out for weeks now and no one, birds or squirrels have taken off any. It either does not taste good or is too hard. Now sure which but will not buy again. A waste of money for me.
