This book starts by saying taking pain pills for pain won’t cure the root cause of your pain. Duh. Then it says TMJ could be your problem if you gave headaches, dizziness, various ear issues. Then it basically disses all other doctors that you might seek to help you. Finally, it presents the holy grail…the doctor that wrote this book is the only one that can help you! It doesn’t list a way to actually locate one of these special tmj doctors. He doesn’t give you any advice on how to help your condition yourself. The answer is to find him or someone who does things like him. It’s basically a self promotional book that didn’t teach me anything new. He also has pretty bad reviews on google, from actual patients.

I've been suffering with TMJ pain for well over a year and have seen numerous specialists who basically did nothing to resolve my issues. I found Dr. Abeles book after hours of internet research, ordered it, and read it from cover to cover the day it was delivered! So well written.. intelligent, informative, straight forward, reassuring.. He explains the science and anatomy of TMJ disorder in an "easy to understand" manner, while captivating readers by injecting some humor, personal anecdotes, and favorite quotes. Most importantly, he emphasizes the importance of finding the right dentist who knows how to diagnose and treat the cause, not just the symptoms.The pain, worry, mild depression and pessimism began taking over my life until I read this book.. My first appointment is scheduled for next week!I urge all other TMJ sufferers out there to read this book!

I'm a dentist who treats TMJ. I find this book accurate and useful. It is well-written for patients, dentists and doctors to all be able to understand.

This book is a MUST if you are suffering from TMD and the symptoms that comes with it. It explains it in a way that is easy to understand from the patients point of view. It will also help family and friends understand what you're going through also. Easily the best book out there on this subject.

I have known Dr. Abeles for about a decade. I am a dentist uses the same techniques and can attest to the accuracy of what is stated in this book. This book is outstanding. If you suffer from headaches, clicking joints or other TMJ/ head pain you owe it to yourself to read this book.

Excellent book very well written and very informative with regards to treating TMD symptoms. As a neuromuscular dentist myself it is very nice to see a book so well written that embraces the non surgical and non medicated approach to treating TMD.

This book is great for practioners and patients alike. Rather than treating symptoms, this book gets to the root cause of the ailments. We don't need more pills in our lives. We need solutions to the problems. That is what this book is about. Wonderfully done.

For over forty years symptoms related to my TMJ joint went misdiagnosed. After wasting more money on an appliance that only made my symptoms worse I came across this book. It’s a must read for anyone dealing with TMJ issues. Wish I would have found this guy forty years ago.
