The Natural Evolution of A Jar of Raw Honey & Avoiding the Pitfalls of a New Skincare Trend
The Verdict I purchased this 1kg jar of Q Honey in June 2025, and as of January 2026, I am finally reaching the bottom. This isn’t just honey; it is a living, award-winning product that has maintained its incredible forest aroma and complex floral taste for over seven months. Why it stands out after 7 months Aromatic Purity: Unlike supermarket "squeezy" brands, this remains as rich as the day it was opened. The Baltic Connection: You can really taste the Lithuanian wildflower origin—it’s deep, earthy, and not just "flat" sweetness. Natural Evolution: It has naturally crystallised, which is the ultimate proof it is raw and unpasteurised. Mastering Your Jar (My Favourite Hacks) The "Non-Stick" Measure: Lightly oil your spoon before scooping; the honey slides right off for mess-free baking. The UK Baking Conversion: If you are swapping sugar for this honey in your recipes, use 200g of honey for every 250g of sugar. Because honey is liquid, you should also reduce the other liquids in your recipe (like milk or water) by about 30ml to 45ml and lower the oven temperature by 15°C to prevent over-browning. "Whipping" the Gold: If the honey sets too firmly, use a stand mixer for 15 minutes. It transforms into a light, airy "creamed honey" perfect for crumpets. Zero-Waste Tea: When the jar is nearly empty, pour your hot tea directly inside and swirl to catch the final nutrients. ⚠️ CRITICAL SAFETY NOTE: The Tallow Honey Balm Trend With Honey and Oil scrubs and Tallow and Honey balms trending heavily in 2026, many are DIY-ing their skincare. As a long-term user, I must offer a warning: Honey is a humectant (it attracts moisture). When mixed with fats like tallow at home, it can create a breeding ground for bacterial growth if left in a cupboard. The Safer Solutions Make "On-Demand": My top tip is to mix your scrubs (use Grapeseed oil, sunflower oil, Rosehip oil or Jojoba as they are non-comedogenic) as you need them rather than storing a pre-mixed pot. Pasteurisation vs Raw: Ironically, for DIY creams, a pasteurised honey is actually a safer option than raw honey, as the heating process deactivates enzymes that can contribute to spoilage when mixed with other ingredients. Save this beautiful Q Honey for eating and "on-demand" masks! Store in the fridge: If you must pre-mix a balm, keep it in the fridge and use it within a month Pros: Incredible depth of flavour; massive 1kg value; recyclable glass jar. Cons: The jar is heavy and the lid can be a bit stubborn if honey gets in the rim (keep it clean!). Final Thoughts If you want honey that is as fresh in the depths of winter as it was in the height of summer, this is the gold standard. It is versatile, ethical, and holds its quality better than any other brand I’ve tried.

Amazing
It is the greatest honey I have ever tasted. Very delicious, aromatic, r e a l honey. No wonder it has won an international ward last year. Arrives in a very good own packaging which allows Amazon to double pack it to avoided breaking of the jar. I am buying it for a second time and will continue buying from them

carried in the tiny mouths of little bees :)
Oh, to think this was created by the tiny mouths of hundreds of little bees just for me—it's touching and heartwarming! You can almost taste their little mouths. 😊 On a serious note, this raw honey is really good value for money. As long as I find it at a special price, I will keep buying it. I'm also excited to explore some of the other varieties they sell. Is it better than store-bought? Who knows! This honey has a distinctly different taste, but I love the size and its unique flavor. It’s made from buckwheat, and I’ve never tried that in stores, so I can't compare. This experience and that of a photoshoot I have planned has inspired me to dig deeper into how honey is produced. I love it! It's such a healthy food, and I’m planning to use it as a substitute for sugar in my biscuits. The Sweet Science of Honey Honey is a delightful marvel created by our buzzing friends, the bees! Here’s a humorous and sweet take on this golden treat: Bee-licious Creation: Did you know that honey is essentially made from bees "chucking up" their food? Yep, those little pollinators transform nectar into a sweet masterpiece through a process that involves regurgitation—think of it as nature's own version of “sick” tasting good enough to jar! The Sweetest “Sick”: If only our “sick” could taste like honey! Imagine selling your own unique flavors in jars. Who wouldn’t want to try “Citrus Surprise” or “Minty Delight”? The thought alone is enough to make anyone chuckle! Health Benefits: Beyond the giggles, honey is packed with antioxidants and has soothing properties. It's a natural remedy for sore throats and can add a touch of sweetness to teas and recipes. Versatile Ingredient: Whether drizzled on toast, mixed into yogurt, or used in baking, honey is a culinary superstar! It’s definitely worth keeping a jar or two on hand—just don’t tell the bees it's “chucked up” food! 😅 In conclusion, honey is not just a sweet treat; it’s a fun conversation starter about the wonders of nature. So next time you enjoy this golden goodness, remember the bees and their rather amusing method of production!

Outstanding flavour and texture
Superior to shop bought honey by a mile. Everything about it screams class from the two cardboard boxes it is packaged in, the external one comes with instructions in case the honey crystallises (a natural process) to the colour. Not a wishy-washy yellow that I have grown used to but a deep golden orange. And the smell - I didn't realise that honey could actually smell like the flowers it comes from. OK, I admit my sense of smell is more like a dachshund than a bloodhound but even so I could smell it as soon as I removed the lid. The texture is so thick, almost gluey (that may change depending on the temperature but this was about five minutes after it came out of the delivery driver's van) and stays on the spoon and yes, I ate a spoonful of it, just to sample it. Unfortunately, by eating it I now can't give it as a present which was my intention. Luckily, I bought two jars. Unlucky for the intended recipient, I'm keeping both. Far too good to give away. Delicious enough to eat from the jar as it doesn't have the harshness that other honey has (I hadn't noticed previously but having compared them it is very obvious). It tasted fantastic in my coffee, giving much more flavour than my 'normal' brand and yet didn't make it overly sweet. I would imagine that it would also be great on toast etc.

Jar of flavoured sugar
As another reviewer wrote "you need a chisel." The honey I received is the same, rock hard. I like my organic honey and have spent hundreds of pounds on different honey over the years. I like them runny enough for me to dip my bananas in. I cut up 3 - 4 bananas on a plate, then use a fork to dip the banana pieces into the honey. With this rock-hard honey, I have to use a fork to put some honey on it and then place the fork in the banana pieces. It is just not the same. I will not be buying this again and will stick to my usual Honeydew brand of Bulgaria honey when I buy from Amazon in the future. I came across the same problem when I was buying from a Scottish independent honey maker. The first couple of years it was fine and I could dip my bananas in it. Then it changed to rock hard stuff, yet the honey maker told me it was exactly the same honey as always. Well, it definitely was not, so I never bought from him again. Just my opinion here, but I always suspect the bees are fed packets of white sugar when the honey is just a jar of crystals. I may be wrong, but I did see a lady in a large supermarket at one time that was in front of me in the queue and she was buying lots of 1kg bags of white sugar. The cashier asked her if she was baking, to which the lady replied, "oh no, it is for my bees". No doubt she sold raw, organic honey as well. I was not impressed. Obviously, this lady was driven by pure greed, not quality.
