How scared were the spiders?

Imagine walking to your friends house, when all of a sudden you get captured by a contraption like this and displaced miles away in a foreign land. I believe you would have long lasting emotional trauma. Would you see your family again? How will you survive? Where will you live? These are just a few of the questions this spider may face. Would humanely ending spiders life be better than him wondering the streets, scared and alone for the rest of his days? Everyone will know the type of person you are when they come to visit you and see this hanging above your mantle.

Has anyone injured a bug with this? Like it couldn't walk away when you released it or was missing a leg or wing or something?

Most of the time, no. But there may have been a couple times they lost a leg. Still, though, it’s the most effective way to catch a bug without killing it, except for your own hands.

What about spiders that carry babies on their backs? Will the babies be contained? They tend to scatter if disturbed.

I'd recommend putting a small plastic cup over a spider with babies (clear is nice, so you can see where the spider is) and then gently sliding a stiff piece of cardboard under the cup so the spider is contained and can be released inside. Pros - keeps all the babies with mom, even if a few scatter they'll still be in the cup and not in your house. Con - you'll have to get closer to the spider to catch her than you would with the Critter Catcher.

What's to stop the insect from crawling up this and onto you while you're trying to get them outside?

The design completely encapsulates the insect, without harming it. I was surprised by how well the bristles work . I have taken out so many spiders and bees and have never had an issue. The handle is long enough to be safe even if that happened, which I have not experienced so far. It also allows you to reach ceilings and corners where spiders typically create a web.

Have jet to catch the spider

The product feels sturdy and good in hand. I have jet to find the courage to really approach and catch a spider with it.

Questionable quality

When you press the handle to close the nozzles and press too hard, the whole front detaches and flies away - parachuting the insects to the other side of the room which completely defies its purpose

This saved my life

No joke this saved my life.I am terrified of spiders, but don't kill them so it would take me SO long to work up the courage to get a cup, get a piece of paper, trap the spider and let it outside.. like I would want to cryNow I just use this stick, I don't have to get anywhere close to the spider and I can relocate it with ease.The bristles don't hurt the bugs, including bees or wasps that may get inside, and they eject them outdoors where they belongI can't recommend this enough

Works great & lasted 3.5 years

I first bought this in August 2020 and I have used it very often since. My dogs bark at it a lot when I use it so that’s amusing, but I don’t let them play with it & it lasted me until just now (March 2024). It still functions somewhat, but part of the plastic handle broke and I have to struggle to open and close it so I’m going to get a new one. I think the cost of less that $20 is well worth 3 1/2 years of use. Happy hunting & thank you for being kind by catching & releasing insects when possible. A little good karma goes a long way.

Safe and friendly critter catcher!

Easy to use...better than the ones with shorter handles, this one reaches high places and is soft on little critters.
