Oh how I love this game! For the Sci-Fi lover in your life
I love the Fluxx series so much, and while I may play some of the other versions more often (I'll explain why at the end of this review), this and Monty Python Fluxx are my two absolute favorites!Fluxx is the perfect go-to game if you want something fast-paced, fun and easy to learn. Because the explanation and basic rules of the game are so simple, I've found that it's equally fun for brand-new players as for those who've played it before. Everything is explained on each card, so you can give very minimal instructions to new players and they'll pick it up easily. We usually use this as a warm-up game on game nights with friends and family, before moving on to more strategy-based games.Since I mentioned strategy, I will give you one word of caution: this is not a game for those who are looking for something with elaborate strategy and get frustrated when the plan they've been working on for several rounds either doesn't work out or backfires. The nature of the game is to be ever-changing, so you have to be willing to go with the flow. You can have some strategy, of course, but you have to be willing to see it blow up in front of you in seconds--and then laugh about it!A word about this version of the game: in my opinion, this particular version is best played when you're playing with fans of Sci Fi. This version is based around references to popular sci-fi film and television series (Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who, etc.), and really I think it's funniest when you understand the references. It is playable with people who don't know their Sci Fi, but I don't think it's as much fun for them. Also, because of the special powers of some cards in the game it is a slightly more complex version of Fluxx than others--I wouldn't start anyone out with this unless they're playing with others that have played it before.

Lots of fun for sci-fi nerds. 🙂
Lots of fun for sci-fi nerds. We have a few Fluxx games and they’re all very repayable. Great for small gatherings.

Great fun for the whole family
I picked up this one after watching Wil Wheaton's Tabletop. This is an incredibly fun game, and it highly addictive. Even if you're not the average CCG gamer (Magic the Gathering being the most common), which we're not, you will still find this very fun. My wife compared it to the strategy you use in gin rummy. But lets be honest, most reading this review, or checking out this product are already gamers of a sort anyway. This version of Fluxx can be played anywhere, tho a small flat surface with no wind is best, an airplane tray would still work.As with all versions of fluxx, the game starts simply enough. You have three cards to start, and you draw one, play one. Seems simple until you play rule, action, or goal cards to change things up. You win the game with keepers and are either hindered or helped with creeper cards (depending on the goal). It is a VERY random and sometimes silly game. My six year old daughter loves playing the game, even though she cannot follow most of the rules, and acts as a spoiler most times making a random game even more random. The best part of this one is for sci-fi buffs (geeks/nerds), there are lots of sc-fi show/book/movie in-jokes that will keep everyone laughing. This can be quick or grueling, it all depends on the rules and goals of the moment.

Card game fun for the whole family!
This game is easy to learn and fun to play! The rules start simple, and build up as the game goes on. The cards are easy to read and understand at nearly every age! The deck also has a nice range of cards that ensure every round you play is different than the one that came before. A relatively inexpensive cards game that can lead to hours of family fun!

Good, clean, chaotic, bizarre, fluid, card-slinging fun.
Fluxx is fun. I picked this particular version because it seemed like the one that would appeal to my group of friends more than any of the others. We have played a couple of times, but that's about it. The novelty wore off pretty quickly and we haven't really touched it since.I think this game might come out a few times a year from here on out, but it seems like you need several dedicated players all ready for it at the same time. You can't just bust it out at a party and be like "Whoo! Who wants to play some FLUXX?!" because then everyone around will sort of stare at you awkwardly until one guy comes up and says "Not now, man; we're trying to conduct a bris!" and then you'll look stupid because you're not even Jewish don't actually know anyone at this party. What I'm trying to say is that I enjoy the IDEA of Fluxx a little better than I enjoy the actual game. It's chaotic, and difficult to keep track of what's going on at any given time. I understand that's supposed to be part of the appeal of the game, but unless everyone has played the game before, you end up having to teach the game to a new person every single game, which ends up slowing everyone down and sapping a lot of the fun.Bottom line, if you have friends who are looking for a game you can all play repeatedly and is different every single time, you can do way worse than Fluxx. But if you're looking for a casual party game, this might not be a great match for you.
