Question 1

Hook & Loop:  The directions say to secure both sides of the walls with the hook and loop?  I don't see any hook or loop.  Can someone please advise?

Hook and loop is the generic name for the product that was first available under the brand name Velcro.  If you examine a piece carefully you will see that one side is made up of tiny little loops and the other side is tiny little hooks.  When the hooks are pressed onto the loops they interlock.

Question 2

Is this going to protect a cat from rain if left in an open porch? I feed 3 feral cats in my backyard. Is this really good against the rain? Thanks!

We don't have a porch or garage. We put ours under our patio table, and put a large clear heavily duty tarp over the table. We pushed the chairs around into the table to secure the tarp , and also put rocks along the table top to keep tarp from blowing off.  We chose a clear tarp because we thought the cat could see any interloper, and feel safer.  We've had very heavy rainfall, and a few inches of snow recently. The cat house was perfectly dry. We've got a soft rubber collapsible 2 compartment bowl for feeding him.  I put water in one compartment and wet food in the other , an stuck it in his house.  The outside temp was 20 degrees, but the water did not freeze. Hope this helped.

Question 3

Would this house be too hot in the summer in Texas? I fear the feral cat feeling safe it in during winter and then getting overheated in the summer.

Living in Chicago, I have the Heated version of this house.  There is no 'ON' or 'OFF' button, nor can you set the temperature high or low.... During the summer, I won't  plug it in. There is a removable front and rear flap that covers the openings and would allow some air flow.  If the house is in a shaded area during the summer, it would not be too hot.

does anybody own non heated cat house

I originally bought the unheated version.  I put an old baby blanket in the bottom for comfort and my semi-feral cat took to it immediately.  I was hoping she would decide to come indoors as the weather got colder, but no such luck so far so I've since added the heated pad.  That means I have to move it to a table on the back porch each night so I can plug it in.  I also have a problem with raccoons at night so it works out for that issue too.
