For all-day use, this one works
Purchased for a member of our office who needed a solid, comfortable chair without arms. The report is it is incredibly comfortable and supportive. The quality of the frame and fabric makes the higher price understandable. If you need a chair for all-day use, consider this one.

Excellent chair, just not for petites
This is a really comfortable, stylish, well-made chair. I would have kept it if the seat bed wasn't too deep. The seat cushion was comfortable. The back is curved forward on the sides, kind of hugging the back slightly. This is not as good for lumbar support but would be comfortable for younger people without low back pain. The fabric is excellent quality and the seat cushion is ample. It was also easy to assemble. For disassembling I had to buy a special tool- Thankfully that can be bought on Amazon. I don't think the chair can be beat at this price point .

In Depth Review Of A Great Chair!
This is an excellent, professional, workplace quality chair! You can't go wrong with HON! It arrived three days ahead of my scheduled delivery date. The box is the original factory box and was sturdy and in very good condition. It was easy to carry into the house and unpack. All parts were present and included an Allen wrench (to add to your home collection!). The chair was very easy to assemble – I was able to do so by myself. You will need to attach the back to the seat with the four screws provided. You will then attach the wheels – they easily snap in to the bottom. Next you will put the wheel part and lift mechanism into the bottom of the chair and you’re done. The instructions are photos that are easy to follow. The seat is well padded and comfortable, and it is a wide seat. The back is also comfortable and gives good support. The seat has a tension knob to adjust the “lean” of the back, with a lever to lock in place. The lever also allows you to adjust the height of the seat and both the highest and lowest heights should accommodate most desks. The not so great . . . I am 5’4” and front to back the seat was too long for me. When I sit all the way toward the back, the edge of the seat hits right below my knees. You could put a pillow behind your back, but for me, that defeats the purpose. So, with regrets I am returning the chair. What you really need to know . . . If you go ahead and purchase this chair, after you attach the back to the bottom – stop and put the chair on a surface so you can sit on the seat to see if it will be suitable for you. I put the entire chair together before testing the seat, and herein lies the problem. There are no disassembly instructions so I had to consult YouTube, and then it’s almost impossible to get the chair apart and all the parts back in the box. Also – although there were no shipping charges . . . you will be charged for return shipping. And you need to get the box to the UPS Store.

So far, so good... (especially if you sit cross-legged on your chair like me!)
I *just* got this chair and assembled it, so I may come back and revisit this review later, if, after a week, I find out it isn't that comfortable after all. But my initial response is a good one. I am one of those people who mostly sits cross-legged (with my legs folded up on the chair seat) at my desk, if I possibly can. I don't know if there are many people like me in this regard, but this chair seems to work for my needs so far. I basically need a large, flat, comfortable seat to accommodate this, and a back that it not too structured but provides support. I'm hoping the back won't wind up being too sculpted-- I would prefer it a little straighter than it is. Anyhow the chair is really easy to assemble and feels pretty sturdy and well-made. It is also not a high chair, which, being a rather small person, I also really appreciate (I'm 5' 5" and around 115 lbs). The pneumatic seat adjustment seems to work fine, and the cushion is firm but comfortable... so, so far, so good. I'll update if I have a sore neck or hip or anything... otherwise, for a smallish person who wants a chair thats just kind of straightforward and sturdy, and works with a smallish desk, I think this is a good bet.

An Office Chair That’s Very Comfortable No Matter How Long You Sit On It
This is the second HON Volt Armless Chair I’ve purchased. The first one was about 5 years ago; and it still works great. It’s sturdy and the seat is very comfortable. That’s the reason I was glad when I saw that Amazon continues to sell it. The new office chair is just as comfortable. I can sit for hours comfortably. My back & legs feel good even after I’ve worked several hours sitting on this office chair. I recommend it wholeheartedly!

chair is fine, but...
Bottom line, I like the chair. Very good quality and exactly what I was looking for in a 'draftsman'-height chair (seat at least 27" high). It gets the one-star treatment because I'm still a bit upset by the rest of the experience. The box arrived on time but it was in pretty bad shape and looked as if it had been opened before and retaped. The chair itself showed no signs of damage. The installation instructions are primitive but it is a simple 4-step procedure so not really a big deal. What made it a big deal is the bolts and lock-washers required to assemble the seat back to the seat were missing. I tried to cal Hon customer service to get the correct size so I could go to the hardware store and purchase them. After surviving what seemed like a 10-step "if you want x, press this" phone menu at Hon, nobody answered when I finally got to customer service. I ended up taking the chair seat with me to hardware store and matching bolts there. While in the end it was not that big a deal ($1.88 for 4 bolts), I just kind of wonder how you get a chair missing essential hardware in a box that looks repackaged. A little disappointed with process, but happy with chair.

I'm writing this review because I read hundreds searching for the right chair for working from home. I returned a few to Staples before I found this one. Chairs are very personal in that everyone is different, but I want to let you know how happy I am with this chair. It's very well built and very comfortable. The cushions are solid and comfortable...not cheap and flimsy like some chairs I tried. There is a nice amount of lumbar support which I really like too. I do NOT sit for hours in this chair. I have a standing desk, but wanted to alternate between sitting and standing during my day. So I wanted a chair that didn't take up a lot of room. I also didn't want arms. When I'm working sitting down, my hands/arms are resting at 90 degrees, on my keyboard/desk anyway. I also play guitar, so didn't want arms in the way when I want to take a break! You're able to easily adjust this chair up so its easy to lean back if you want that, plus, it lifts to a decent height (I'm 5'10", and don't need the full extension to have my legs/knees at 90 degrees). After a long search for a solid chair, I'm very happy with this purchase.

This is a serious office chair. When you sit on it, you just get the feeling that they wanted to build the best chair they could; it is engineering done properly. If you are looking for a chair with 24 different adjustments, you will likely not appreciate what this chair does offer; exceptional comfort and excellent build quality. I too was brainwashed into thinking I needed 3 different arm rest adjustments and tilt mechanisms, and was originally looking at those types of chairs for my home studio/office. Then I visited another Architectural firm that had a dozen of these chairs and tried one out. I purchased it the next day (as well as the regular height version). If you use your office chair a lot, need something that will be comfortable for hours on end, and need it to last for a long time, I doubt you will be disappointed with these chairs. Add a set of fancy casters like I also reviewed and you're good to go. One thing I should mention. If you run hot like I do, it may be worth looking at the fabric version of this chair. My regular height version is cloth, and I find it to be a little cooler for extended work sessions. I would recommend this, and will purchase again.

I'm a tall guy (6’2) and this stool is just perfect for the work desk I built myself, the table top is 34” high from the floor, this is pretty much the minimum height of desk I would recommend for this chair, any lower and you will probably be sitting to high even at the lowest position of the chair. This stool is a lot more comfortable than my previous IKEA task chair, even when they were brand new, the cushion are thick and firm. I changed the caster right away to protect my hardwood floor as they are not very good like the other reviewer said.

Husband assembled without issue. Very comfortable.

This chair is my flippin JAM. It's stylish for its price point, hella comfortable, and the (optional) lack of arms makes it easy to play guitar or slide underneath a desk. I purchased the black version with SofThread Leather, and having read some of the reviews for the polyester version I am very glad I did so - it seems like it will last much longer. Zero regrets on this purchase.
