Q: Will it survive the dishwasher or must it be washed by hand?

I'm sorry to tell you that it will not even survive the trip to your house. It will arrived shattered, it is packed poorly by the sender.Its regular ceramic with a plastic lid. So if you get lucky and it is in one piece I would put it in the dish washer. They do not replace it when it arrives broken , you just send it back broken and get a refund

The lid is safe. My girlfriend complains about the lids on the Starbucks brand cups but she says this one doesn't have the pesky hole.

Dont recall it having any writting on it. This mug is heavy ceramic nice BUT the top doesn't fit falls right off. Sent mine back didn't offer a better mug or anything won't order from that company again. There are a lot more to choose from. Good luck
