There's a Giraffe in My Soup

I bought this for my 3 year old grandson and he loves it! They had checked this book out many times from the library until I bought it for him! He was elated!!!

A hilarious story about a customer in a restaurant who keeps finding increasingly large and unusual animals in his soup, and a waiter who is exhausting himself, and suffering various injuries, trying to remove each animal from the restaurant. I won't reveal the surprise ending. which explains why the animals were in the restaurant in the first place, but the solution is fun too. Kids laughed all the way through the story when we read this at library story time--parents too!

This book feels like the editors messed with it in a bad way. There are delightful rhymes on some pages (waiter, save her!) and unpolished concepts on others (gaffe with the giraffe A+, overlooked a whale, C-). It just doesn't delight as much as you'd expect, and there's no twist or lesson to the ending. My 2 yo liked it for an average amount of time - but it's already been forgotten.My advice: skip it for the much better and much more thought-out Pine & Boof, which is delightful.

I couldn't figure out where this book was going to go with a title "There is a Giraffe in my Soup". To my surprise the author pulled it off and made it a fun story for kids. Glad I bought it.

I love this book. I bought it for my 2 year old granddaughter. She likes it, but I think she will find more humor in it, in another year or so. I feel like 3 1/2- 4 may be prime age for this book.

Very cute! Simple, the only words are the dialog between the boy and the waiter. I'm not sure my 2 year old understood what was actually happening, but the illustrations and silliness made it a hit. We have only had it for a couple days, but he has already asked for the Giraffe in My Soup book many times!
