got this helmet to replace an old hobart. noticed immediately the lens was very clear and the filter was colored well. also noteworthy is that it wears comfortably on the head, the strap adjusts easily and it adjusts comfortably to the back of my head. when its on it feels like an extension of my skull which is great. other reviewers say its heavy. its definitely heavier than most hoods. not a problem unless you have a sissy girl neck and cant manage the weight. i wear it comfortably for around 75% of my 10 hour shifts 5 days a week. the sturdiness is where this helmet shines, and is why i picked it up. everyone at my work swears by jackson for their hoods. things are indestructible, most hoods i pick up usually feel flimsy and ive had hoods crack when i drop them. with this jackson, it feels like i could take a .50cal to the temple in it and be fine. if you want a real tank of a hood with a clear lens at a solid price, this cant be beat. excellent hood, very satisfied.

I was issued this model hood at a previous job and used it day in and day out for 5 years with no issues. When I started a new job, I knew this was the hood I wanted. It’s a bit on the heavy side compared to my Optrel e680 but I adjusted to it. The “grind mode” is shade 4 which is what I use to torch cut with. The adjustments for sensitivity, shade and mode are simple and easy to use. The ratcheting headband is comfortable and seems of good quality. I haven’t dropped this one off a ladder yet, but if it’s anything like my old one, it will stand up to it. ***1 year update*** I’ve dropped this hood off my bench, ladder, welder, and the forklift….like a timex she takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Ratcheting headgear still works as good as the day I got it. It’s not a fancy looking hood like the Optrels and Esabs, etc but it’s comfortable and works. My only complaint is on cold mornings when my breath condenses on the control pad part of the lens, the screen telling you what shade it’s set to will go blank. I push the button a half dozen times and it comes back to life. Batteries are still at full charge after 300-400 hours of hood down welding in the last year.

Great hood and it was fairly priced, after 4 years my other one went out and I needed a hood in a hurry so I bought a Lincoln electric hood and it was terrible so I found this one on Amazon and it was here a day early.

Clear and light, it works well. The only thing I will ding this helmet on is the cheap inner release for the shield. Update. The first time it hit the floor off the table, it cracked.

so far i got this and no complaints , except for i received this no spare outer and inner-lenses which was weird, i bought dozens of hoods and this is my first time not getting a few. oh well, the quality of this hood tops this issue. the controls with the digital screen setting the shade, sensitivity, and delay and grind/weld mode was so satisfying. has a nice sturdy feel, a little bit on the heavy side but not bad. headgear is great, pretty comfortable. smooth ratchet adjuster and a decent size viewing area and a place to hold a cheater lens. overall i give this a 8/10. will add edit after some time welding. So update. I noticed a dark line/crack in the filter I heard that that is unsafe to use at this point. So I sent it back. Decided not to get a different cause it’s not worth it for me, it’s just to heavy for my neck and I noticed it doesn’t cover my face and ears as well as others like my old Lincoln. Besides the weight and crack and lack of face coverage my previous review stands solid. If it didn’t have the crack I would still use it as my go to good. Thanks Jackson.

I am new to the auto darkening welding helmet. I have not welded in many years. Wanted to get a little 110v welder for some home projects. I wanted a welding helmet that I could trust. After spending hours watching reviews and reading comments. I decide to give the Jackson safety helmet a try. I have spent a few hours using this helmet. It is amazing! The auto shutoff feature is my favorite feature on this helmet. If it doesn't detect light for some period of time it automatically goes into grind mode saving the batteries. The viewing window is huge! I don't know why they make a bigger viewing window. I looked at some of the panoramic helmets. But after getting this one, I glad I didn't. This helmet is perfect. Not to mention that it looks good also. If you have any question about this welding helmet, do yourself and your eyes a favor and spend the little extra and get this one. You will not be disappointed.

Price for one in used, good condition was lower than for new helmet. Helmet I received is new, with all original info and correct packaging, unused. Excellent price , great helmet ! If it lasts as long as my other Jackson EQC, I'll be very happy. Had my choice of all ADF helmets, bought a Jackson again !

I started out looking for a replacement head gear, for a 25 year old Jackson bucket. However, I saw this & bought this on sale. It was a bit more than my budget. But I'm happy that I bought it. It's light weight & awesome clarity. It's not the fanciest outside, but what you see from insde the lens, is the most important. It's easy to use & I have been using the grind mode more than expected. This has been a very good purchase, would buy again.
