Accurate and consistent. It is easy to switch between imperial and metric. You can switch between two modes standard and coating. Those represent pulse-echo for bare metal and echo-echo for painted metal. If you don't use correct ultrasound gel you'll be frustrated. Vaseline, lotion, or anything oil based will not work. It has to be water-based. In a pinch you could use aloe gel.The case exceeded my expectations and appears to be quality. The same for the probe which is metal.This came with instructions that covered everything except explaining the standard and coating modes I mentioned above.It does come with a certificate to verify accuracy.I used this to audio gauge an aluminum boat hull through thick ablative bottom paint. It worked well for my application.

Instruction manual leaves much to be desired. Does not explain how to set up and use the tester very well. After a lot of trial and error, you should be able to figure it out.

Reasonable price, works very well so far, especially thru paint function, also the number is accurate and stable.
