Beat a wireless connection set up- easier than tapping existing wires
If you are leery of tapping you reverse light then this is the product to go with. I bought this because I didn't want to tap the reverse light and power and instead use the 12V power socket (I call it the old cigarette lighter port) for juice.I am VERY HAPPY with this kit. It is long enough for a crossover SUV so it should be fine for just about anything else. I installed this camera kit (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QTGXYIE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) with the wires in this review. The downside (or upside) of doing it this way is the camera will be on all the time unless you power it off or the key is not in the ignition (on some cars no key, no power from plug). Before you start poking holes spend time planning out how you want to run the wiring beginning to end.I installed this wiring system on a Chevy Equinox. Here is a recap of how I did this:- Drilled 1/2 hole over the existing one covering the bottom part of the license plate (pulled plastic cap off and drilled a bigger hole. Fed the 3 wires through it.- Used a video from youtube for a layout of removing the housing. I did not remove the weatherstrip and anything immediately after that.- Running the wire from the hatch to to the body of the car was tricky so I drilled 2 holes in the plastic weatherseal (each side) and feed the wires through covered them back with electrical tape- ran the wires along the driver side following the weather strip down to the floor of the driver side rear door, then over to driver's door. Then fed under seat and up to dashWires are hidden up until it comes up to the right side of driver's seat. Not exactly the true professional way of doing it, but it looks clean without having to rip apart the car too much. I'll try to add pictures later.

Completely Satisfied
Car camera and monitor purchased separately. Didn't feel like splicing wires from reverse tail light and connecting the monitor to the front fuse box. All I had to do...unscrew my rear license plate, run the camera through it. Then passed it through an electric hole through my trunk, then through the back seat and connected the rear RCA cable to the Rearmaster 12 cig Power Supply. Connected the front monitor to the Rearmaster 12 Power Supply plug in. Turned on my car pressed the red button on the Rearmaster 12 cig Power Supply plug in.........it worked. Cons...hiding the left over wire. Pros....no cutting, no splicing, no ttapping, no removing car upholstery and putting it back on. And no short circuiting your vehicle if your inexperienced as yours truly. I chose to play it safe and less dirty work. I did extensive research. Saved 100 dollars on installation....

Works quite well
I have a utility trailer that i pull with a full-size Bronco. I use it frequently, but the high tail gate and rear-mounted spare tire obstruct viewing the trailer. I wanted the ability to re-position the camera easily: Initially, so I could view the trailer hitch to hook up, then shifting the camera (mounted with a small magnet) higher on the tail gate for backing up. Also, I wanted manual control of the camera instead of powering it from the backup light circuit. This cable assembly turned out to be just perfect for the job with simple plug-in connections, and the built-in switch is a nice added feature.

Works great. Seems well-made.
I would tend to disregard the reviews that mention how this unit smoked and popped, when first plugged in. I suspect that the wiring was done wrong, somewhere in the line, by the installers. A lot can go wrong, wiring wise, from the camera to this plug. I've installed five backup camera systems, and a front-view camera, and have never had a single problem. Again, I suspect unskilled installers. Know what you're doing!

Great wiring alternative for common backup cameras
What I liked most was the availability of this wiring kit option for a recently purchased backup camera as opposed to wiring those components to separate power source access's. And the "on and off" button is an added bonus.. Very simple RCA connectors.

Rearmaster plug in.
Purchased an iStrong back up camera and this made it a plug and play. This went on a 2016 ram 1500. The wiring went the length of the vehicle, could have put the camera on the front hood. Would buy again but wife’s car had a camera on it.

Pretty disappointed. I only plugged in the monitor to ...
Placed the item into my 12v adapter and it smoked and popped in a few seconds. Pretty disappointed. I only plugged in the monitor to the back up camera. The fuse did not save the device. I had to throw it away. The reason for 2 star is the item arrived nicely packaged and on time. Product itself 1.

Helped adding a back up camera to my aidi
It worked perfectly adding a backup camera to the car. Instead of using the reverse light as a power source I wanted to have it plugged in all the time. And this saved me a lot of trim pulling. Did a camera on a 2012 audi a6 avant c7. Enough room in the arm rest to fit the cables and run the wires. Lengthy and standard wire size as a dashcam cable.

Power line.
Handy peace of kit, used for to power up monitor and rear view camera. Really simple to use, plug into cigarette lighter socket, and simply plug camera in one end monitor to the other end .

Very useful piece of kit.
I used this to connect a rear view camera. My vehicle has LED lights and Can-bus wiring system and I did not want to risk any issues or have an auto electrician do the job for me so this is perfect and worked straight out of the box.

good device
Good does the job, but I've had intermittent power to the reverse camera (sometimes camera doesn't come on), might not be the fault of this device could be the light port. otherwise this works.
