Mid December 2015, an hour before bed I usually adjust the thermostat down a few degrees, but as I got ready for bed I noticed the temperature had not gotten colder, and maybe even risen a bit. As I walked around the house I noticed our outdoor unit started making noise like a fast, loud tapping, so we shut off the A/C. I suspected it was the capacitor because of a similar situation 4 years prior. A knowledgeable friend came over with a spare, old, used capacitor and all was well for 3 days then the same thing happened. I checked and the used capacitor and it had the telltale pea-sized bulge at the top, much like the known bad cap. As it was winter and mild, I didn't need to call an HVAC specialist for a summer-time emergency and pay $150 for the part, $100 for the labor plus $100 for weekend call-out like I have done in the past. Since I had time and comfortable evenings I watched several How-To videos and ordered this capacitor as it meets factory specs for my home A/C unit. Installation was simple thanks to INSULATED gloves and tools, and the professionals who share their knowledge on YouTube. It works perfect so far, though I will update and adjust should it fail. I understand that my unit could be near the end of its life, but for the time being this low-cost capacitor seems to tow the load and we sleep comfortably. REMEMBER: This is a high-voltage system. You could injure or even kill yourself. Turn off the breaker. Double check the breaker. Did you turn off the break???? Wear insulated gloves. Watch professional videos and GOOGLE your unit to make certain the capacitor is off the correct rating and design. Make sure the breaker is off... Works great!!! My capacitor went out causing the A/C to turn off. Also it caused my breaker box to trip, which was due to a bad capacitor. Bought a new one and everything works just fine. Instead of calling a A/C company fixed it myself. Saved so much money. YouTube saved me. Just make sure you buy the right capacitor for your A/C unit.

Works as advertised, I tested with a multimeter and the everything was good. The capacitor is shorter than my normal one I use. Maybe good in tight spaces or in old window air conditioners, where tall ones don't fit.

This is a replacement spare for my outdoor AC compressor. The previous spare waited in the box for a few years, but worked as expected when installed. I have been pleased with the dependability of JARD capacitors, so bought again to always have one available. Also keep a spare JARD capacitor for the other AC unit. The run capacitor faces heavy duty loads and is critical for AC performance.

working well, saved big bucks, easy to hook up...check your wires for damage to the compressor! add a kick start booster. It can buy some time with an older compressor.
