Savage: A Rough Romance

Strong characters lead an amazing story
I have read 4 of Sara's stories so far and I have loved each one. Savage was no exception.I was a little concerned with how Aric was going to be as an Alpha based on the blurb. He is given a job and he is determined to see it done. He stands in stark contrast to the Alpha King that tries to make Freya his. Aric is everything an Alpha should be.The blurb disclaimer let's you know what you are getting in this story. I was not pushed beyond what I was comfortable with. Beyond the initial uncertainty, I felt safe in the author's story, knowing what she had delivered before. In Savage we get Freya, a Queen who rules her kingdom, and Aric her Alpha. I loved their relationship. There is danger that Aric doesn't hide Freya from. He is content to be at her side or allow her to go on her own to be the Queen she is.The arc of the story was satisfying. I am beyond excited to learn this is book 1 in a series on the Alpha Brotherhood. I will definitely be tuning in for more in this series and the author.

First time reading this kind of story
I usually always read romance novels from this time period so when I started reading this book I was a little unsure if I should continue because it wasn’t during this era. I have to say I still enjoyed this author. She makes really steamy books and I loved the relationship of the 2 characters in the book. Very strong female with a great partner who had her back. I will definitely read more of this authors books.

Good Read. But not for me
While I liked the story of the FMC, I can't help but feel like she was set up and controlled by Brotherhood. Aric was sent to "tame or kill" Freya. He forced her to go into heat against her will and made her submit to him as well. While Freya still rules as queen, she still submitted to Aric and even refers to him as her "alpha". Why is it that, even the strongest of women, must submit to a man? She was basically robed of her will to consent and was practically raped by Aric upon their first meeting. Hell, he basically said to her that she needed to understand the natural order of things. Does this refer to the ancient role of men being the leaders and women following obediently? If you prefer those types of stories then, by all means enjoy. But I prefer FMC's to have a say in who they choose to mate with and to fight for themselves without the help of a man.

Aptly named
The writing is excellent, the world building is vivid and descriptive, the characters are interesting and complex, and the storyline is engaging and well written. Freya is strong, smart, fierce and fearless in battle. When a man tries to take what isn’t his, she puts him in his place quickly and fatally. In her effort to secure her people and expand their reach, she draws the wrong kind of attention. The Brotherhood steps in to keep Freya from uniting with a powerful enemy. But she’s not one to take orders from just anyone. What I love about Freya (other than all the wonderful aforementioned qualities) is her complex dynamic. She’s truly one of a kind. And Aric is strong and competent and capable of leading, but he never attempted to crush her spirit or make her less than she was. Not all alphas are created equal, and a queen should only bow before her king. I am looking forward to exploring more of this universe. Well done!

Powerful Female Alpha
I really liked the storyline. I enjoyed how the author put a twist, if that's what you want to call it, on the Alpha/OmegaShield Maiden Freya is the only born female alpha. She fights for King Vegeir of Valgertha and leads her army to victory. At the celebration, King Vegeir claims her as his Omega. Her Alpha will Not let her submit - they fight, she kills him. She is now Queen Freya of Valgertha.Aric is a Sage of the Alpha Brotherhood and is tasked with bringing out Queen Freya's Omega. The Brotherhood needs to keep Valgertha on their side to keep fighting their biggest enemy.Aric is an amazing Alpha; he ruled her in the bedroom and stands beside her when she leads her army and her people. The chemistry between them is explosive!

A woman warrior
I like this book because it's about a woman warrior that is more Alpha than Omega when she is both. She became Queen but did not really want the role. Those make the best rulers.

Umm, just WOW!!
Freya is one strong, complex and intruiging Omega character who lives upto her name! So much so that Alpha Aric is sent to tame, dominate, discipline and conquer this Queen. An intensely sexual and sensual story, with action and suspense, gripping and satisfying😉 in so many ways!

Yes!
I wasn't sure at first to be honest, the knot animalistic aspect isnt really my thing. But the whole power play sub/dom is, and i love the relationship Fraya and Aric have. Sara Fields has nailed the idea of being dominant in one role while recognising the need to submit in another. I noticed other reviews mention the level of pain inflicted, and i have to admit it is harsh. But then so is the setting, they live in a world of physical fighting, fraya is no stranger to pain. I get the impression Aric knows her limits. Obviously it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I loved it and am excited to read more.

Alpha Omega meets her mate
If you are looking for a strong & courageous alpha heroine then you need to read "Savage" . Freya is an interesting character that during the book grows to be an confident alpha/omega with the help of Aric's firm hand. Great story, plenty of very graphic hot sex, action and not to forget the punishment that comes. Can't wait to read Luna's story.

Alpha brotherhood
Great storyline. Good against evil. Alpha and omega. This is a great series. Each can be read as a stand-alone but together they enrich the story…

Alpha or Omega - #WhyChoose
Savage: A Rough Romance – Sara FieldsOur FMC is Freya, an Alpha female who has yet to be dominated by any male. When the King decides he will take Freya as his mate, in front of the entire gathered warriors and citizens in the hall, Freya decides that is definitely NOT happening. She kills the king and becomes the ruler of her people. She is truly kickass!Enter Aric. He is an alpha and leader of his order in the Alpha Brotherhood. He is tasked with taming the Alpha Queen or removing her completely. There is a fair amount of steamy goodness in this book. And we discover that Freya actually has a unique dual nature. She is Alpha Queen to her people, but Omega mate to Aric. The usual warnings for steaminess and domination that generally follow with Alpha/Omega couplings. These can be possible triggers for some people. Please heed the warnings of the author. 4 stars
