how easy or difficult is it to tie the material to the tree and stakes?

Actually, it's very easy. The material is very pliable and holds a knot.

Can you pound a nail thru this material to secure placement on the wood stake? Will it unravel over time at the site of the nail?

Hard to pound a nail in a stake. If you fold it over a couple of times and use a screw, it should hold.

Can this be used to tie the branches of an arborvitae together that flopped over from snow damage?

Absolutely. That's what we bought it for. To stake them down and to tie them together.

I had an 8" apple tree uproot during wind and rain. Got the tree straight with come a longs and rope. Will this material work for guying this tree.

This is exactly what this product is designed for. You can tie it off to another tree or post, or pound stakes in the ground and use it as guy ropes. It won't hurt the tree yet is strong enough to hold it in place.
