About the Startup Describe your product in 3 words.Warmth made convenientHow did you come up with the idea for this product?I have always disliked the cold, but absolutely loved all the adventures the winter season provided, especially snowboarding. One winter I was venturing to Northern Michigan and in an attempt to beat the cold I began shopping for battery heated coats. I never ended up buying a heated coat because I couldn't afford most options and I couldn't find the style I was looking for. In fact, I loved the coat I had, I was just hoping to find some sort of heater to put in my coat. To my surprise, nothing like that existed.What makes your product special?Torch is special because you can put it in any style coat and transfer it from coat to coat. I have put my Torch in my suit coat, pea coat, snowboarding coat, down jacket and even an outer-shell. The versatility is unmatched and Torch can literally accompany anyone on any adventure no matter what they decide to wear. In fact, Torch will be accompanying a climber to the summit of Everest, a motorcycle enthusiast on a journey from South America to Alaska, and will also be worn by a couple professional snowboarders this season.What has been the best part of your startup experience?The crowdfunding experience was amazing and so much fun. Nice product, but could be better
I purchased this to wear inside of jackets, etc while working the door in nightclub security during the winter. I like the concept and most of the execution of this product. However, this is room for improvement. Since the time I purchased this, I can now no longer locate the extra velcro inserts and not sure where the charger for the battery is. I don't use it all year round, so it gets put away and things get misplaced (obviously not the sellers' fault!) But having a way to order more velcro inserts would be nice. Also, using either the standard rechargeable batteries or a USB charger would make it easier/better. Or perhaps having the ability to purchase another battery, so when the first ones dies, you can pop the 2nd one in and not get cold or have to wait forever for the other battery to recharge. The battery it comes with will only provide about 3-4 hours tops of high heat. Anything less than that you won't really notice from inside a jacket in cold weather. I actually wore it under my kevlar vest, which fits very tightly and still needed to have it on high heat. Beyond all of that, I am glad that I do have it to help keep me warm during some of those cold winter nights.

Torch Portable Coat Heater
I purchased four, three for friends. Imagine having heated clothing without purchasing heated clothing (I do both). I rotate the Torch Heater on a variety of jackets and rain gear. My friends ask, how can you have heated clothing especially on company logoed clothing? Easily, I have this heater module. Three modules with velcro adhesive backs. Attach the three velcro adhesive backs to the SMOOTH inner linings of your clothing. NO fleece, or furry shells. It has to attach. Like the Venture Heat line, it seems to use the same battery packs with the controllers built into them. Three generously warm settings (RED High 100deg, Yellow Medium toasty, 85-90deg Green warm, 75-80deg). My friends really enjoy them. One flies cross country often; the others ski. RECOMMEND: Buy a few (I did-4).

Easy to charge. Easy to install. Easy to run. Toasty warm.
Heat lasts a long time. Kept me toasty during a cold, early morning photo tour of a wolf reserve. Did not use the adhesive part of it. Wore a fleece vest and it stuck to the inside of that just fine. Am going to add a velcro "belt" so it fastens all the way around.I think it would be too big for smaller people. Hope they come out with more sizes or a way to adjust it.

Great on the deer stand or...
This is the 1.0 version and it's awesome! Stuck it inside my Carhartt, without the adapter pads and it created a nice warm area for my torso. The battery pocket is a nice option. Will have to pick up another battery because the best I could get was 3 hours on the lowest setting.

Not Quite A Fit
I'm not a small lady, but at 5'4" and 165, this didn't fit any of my coats. The device is too long to wrap around my coats, and the battery sits uncomfortably at the front which makes my coat look oddly bulky. The Velcro sticker also fell lower down my coat when I hung it up. If it could be sized smaller, then I'd give it another shot but until then I'd recommend just getting jacket with the built in heater.
