Blockbuster Video Membership Card ID Badge Holder Lanyard and Rubber Charm Pendant

I work in an inpatient psychiatric unit as a patient care technician. I've found that switching up my scrubs and lanyard can be a great way to start conversations with patients, and helps me build a rapport with people who might otherwise be reserved or mistrustful of staff members.The patient population on my floor skews a little older, so there are a lot of people with nostalgia for the halcyon days of Blockbuster video rentals. It's been great for getting a little laugh in here and there.The breakaway clasp is perfect for safety reasons (especially in psych). My only complaint is that the little VHS tape charm fell apart and fell off the lanyard pretty quickly with minimal use, but I wasn't super attached to it, so it wasn't a big deal for me.

It's a very fitting lanyard for my summer car ('99 Eclipse) , considering the era both belong to. My only complaint is this sudden shift to breakaway clasps being the default on anything that goes around the neck. This has been a thing for almost 20 years and I'll tell you it's not aesthetically pleasing or helpful in any way. My collection of lanyards is... almost alarming... so I have quite a few to go back on if the dumb clip gets on my nerves.It's constantly getting caught/stuck in or on something in tight spots accidentally random whereas a close-ended loop will easily fold/pinch and slip on out. I have to fight with this one. It's probably in the company's best interest to have the clips to avoid being sued if some dumbazz manages to get choked/strangled/hung by one of these things. Y'know, the kind of people who are the reason why specific warning signs and stickers are made. I've bought and have been given lanyards in recent years that do not have clips and they're the best. Never did any of them put my life in danger.The pricing on this item fluctuates quite a bit very often. Initially it was around $10, $14, then $12 (before fees) with stock going up and being bought out within minutes. At the time of this review it's more stable. Mine was "bought" with gift card balance but at the total of $13.86 with tax. Someone needs to get a grip on inventory and have a fixed price.Bottom line ~ it's an ALMOST great piece to hold my rings of keys on. I hate the dumbazz-insurance breakaway clip choice. The charm is still mostly intact and there's some peeling going on as many have complained but methinks I'll remedy that with spray glue. The huge ID holder part was taken off as I personally do not need it. Seems solid enough. Long life the 1990s... in our hearts, a decade when stuff was still cheap, America wasn't divided, cars were still cool and uniquely designed, and I didn't need to 'adult' for another 8 years.
