Making Jewelry from Polymer Clay

amazingly fantastic!
This book is fabulous β more than I would expect in one source. As a polymer clay artist myself for over 25 years, I give this a top rating. I love how she organized her work into various categories β exotic, classy, woodsy, etc. with how to make jewelry ensembles with each.

Polymer clay made easy
The book starts at the beginning of what you need to make clay beads and other clay items. All the materials and how to use them making your items. Sophie shows techniques of how to make different beads. The book will walk you through how to process the clay, textures to use to make different designs. How to place the beads on tray to bake, the tempature and length of time. This is the only book you will need to begin you journey with making beads. She suggest the make of pasta machine to purchase to prepare the clay. Which is a great machine. Her designs are beautiful and her techinque is captured in the step-by-step illustrations. The photos are taken in step-by-step. Making this book worth much more than the purchase price. Follow her directions, add your personal touch to the beads and jewelry, sell your finished piece of jewelry. You will make your money back in this one piece. I am a beginner to polymer clay. Making Jewelry from Polymer Clay by Sophie Arzalier is a must have for any person who has the desire to become a jewelry designer. Thank you Ms. Arzalier for your time, knowledge, and beautiful illustrations that will lead many of us to dive into the polymer clay world of jewelry.

Polymer Clay ...Something for Everyone
I found the book to be comprehensive, easy to read and follow. A large variety of polymer clay techniques and projects are clearly explained. A list of the supplies used to create the projects is also provided. Someone just starting out on the polymer clay journey, or a more advanced polymer clay artist can find some take away from this book, it's a winnerπ

So many things in this book that I want to make!
I just got the book and haven't made anything out of it yet but I looked through it pretty extensively and read a fair bit.Instructions seem clear and easy to follow, there are lots of full color pictures and a TON of projects I want to make! I'm really glad I bought this book, although I must admit I'm a beginner to the medium so I can't say if the book would be good for a more advanced sculpy artist. But if I had to guess? I bet there's some nuggets of gold in here for even the more knowledgeable. I don't think the projects seem totally amateur.

Worth it
I love the patterns, and the explanation given to make the projects. If your new or just starting its a great investment.

Beautiful projects
I'm very happy with the book. Beautiful projects, some new approaches to polymer clay that I hadn't seen or thought of before, and I've been using clay for a long time. Am looking forward to trying them out. I would recommend the paper copy over the Kindle version, though. The photos on my Kindle Fire don't seem as sharp or clear.

Somewhat disappointing
There were great illustration photographs and instructions on how to make different effects. I found the ideas for jewelry somewhat dated. It was first copy-written in 2009.

Nice pictures of finished work
I'm new to polymer clay and was hoping for some jewelry specific techniques with some good clear instructions; I was disappointed. The beginning is the prerequisite materials and tools section, nothing new there. Following that is a brief section on techniques, all of which you can find with better explanations/instructions on the internet for free. The rest of the book is on projects, but despite the beautiful pictures of the finished pieces, there is little in the way of visual instruction on how to achieve such looks. I suppose someone who hadn't done any research on polymer clay might have found this to be a good starter book. Having spent several days delving into the subject via numerous websites, I felt that there was nothing this book could teach me.

A great inspirational book
This is a lovely book with lots of tips and themed ideas. Its given me lots of inspirstion and it's now a well used book in my Polymer Clay mini library!.I purchased it second hand from London Bridge Books and it arrived quickly and in exactly the same conditioned as described - thank you.Lots of good photographs, ideas of how to put mixed media pieces together, new ways of using established techniques, tips on different ways of using canes for beads and the photos are really clear. It's not just about using canes though; it's about using a mixture of techniques to make really nice jewellery pieces.

excellent informational book
Great book with lots of details on how to create various techniques. Also a lot less of the beginner information on conditioning clay etc., Would still like a book JUST on more acvanced techniques though, ie. one that DOESN'T contain all the begiinner info. I've got that repeated in all the books I've purchased on polymer clay - about 15 times, so I think I understand how to condition clay now!

An excellent book.
What an amazing book! As a a beginner to polymer clay, I wanted a book that would help me with tools, materials and techniques. This book does that and more! Packed with ideas, suggestions , excellent step-by-step tutorials, it has enabled me to start experimenting with polymer clays. One of the best 'how to books' I bought in ages.Very highly recommended.

Making Jewellery from Polymer Clay
Great book with lots of beautiful projects for jewellery. Not for the beginner though as they're all a little bit complicated. With a flower cane, she actually trims all the way around the petals which makes a perfect flower cut-out. These then make the most amazing necklaces/bracelets/rings. She also shows how to thread the necklace/bracelet - some very up-market ideas as well - and how to finish it off complete .I recommend this book to anyone interested in making more than just round beads.

Polymer Clay jewelley
I liked the book, it gave some new (to me) tips on making canes using an extruder, which I found useful. Some of the jewellery examples were a bit big for my liking, but on the whole it was a good buy. Would be interested in buying any future books by Sophie Arzalier.
