It’s done swell when ether I’m at home, at work, or in a rainy day it holds up well and is needed. As it said no grease, sweat, rain, or mud will penetrate it

Great for field courses
I've now used several of these things for two different field courses and they've performed exceptionally well. On the first day of my dendrology field course our class was caught in a downpour, and only my and my girlfriend's notes made it out alive--that made them worth the price alone.Other than that, this notebook constantly protects my notes from sweat. I sweat all the time, especially when hiking in 90 degree weather. A regular notebook quickly gets soaked and smeared, but not these. To adress some other problems I've read about, I think erasing works pretty well when using a stock mechanical pencil. Maybe it's some thing about their eraser or lead, but I've never had problems with erasing. Also, the page length may seem short, but the smaller size was an advantage in my ornithology class when I would constantly be switching between my notebook and binoculars. It easily slid into my front or back pockets. All in all, I love these notebooks and will be making my third purchase (7th and 8th notebooks) after I finish this review.

Always lives up to my expectations
The media could not be loaded. I used this as a field journal for a research project in the Galápagos and in mangrove forest in the keys. After dropping this in the ocean and having to rinse off after getting swamp all over it a few times I can confirm that it is waterproof. It is very difficult to erase on waterproof paper which you need to be mindful of.Not my first Rite in the Rain notebook, and will not be my last.

Tried and True in the Amazon
This is my fourth of these notebooks. I took the first three along for a 90 day trip to the Peruvian Amazon, in which they performed flawlessly. Working under the assumption that at no point will I spend extended periods of time living underwater, I can say with some certainty that these books can handle anything I throw at them. One thing you should know before buying however, is that you need a high quality pen in order to get optimal performance. Personally I recommend the Fisher Cap-O-Matic, which I purchased from Amazon for approximately 11 dollars. There are many other acceptable pens however. There are three reasons you need one.First, your notebook is only useful if your pen is working. Consequently an all weather notebook requires an all weather pen.Second, some pens can literally "rite in the rain". You can use a ballpoint pen in this notebook, but not when it is wet.Third, some inks will not last. I used a regular ballpoint as well as Cap-O-Matic while I was in the jungle. After a rainstorm, I notices that the ballpoint had bled and faded significantly. I could still read what I had written, but it was a challenge. The pages I used with the Cap-O-Matic were pristine.Bottom Line: These books are pricey, but they work flawlessly.

Pretty Good but the Hillman notepads at Lowe's feel better.
Got two of these based off of a friend's recommendation. I have extensively used a Hillman notepad from Lowe's that offers the same concept but with a sturdier cover and more plasticky feeling pages. The pages here feel more coated and like traditional paper. The problem is that regular ink does not set in as fast so smearing is much more of an issue whereas the Hillman notepad does not have this issue unless you a pen with liquid ink. Still a good addition since the Hillman only comes in 4"x6" sizes. Cost is a little higher as the Hillman is only $3.

casual boat log book
Sits in the sun, on the dashboard of the pilot house. Great as a trip log book. I usually write in it with a pencil.

Buy this. If you're looking you need it.
Found out about these from my father who is a 35 year merchant mariner. This book can get completely soaking wet and all your notes will be in tact. Not super great for drawing but if you need to take notes in all weather? This is the thing.
