The Tunic Bible: One Pattern, Interchangeable Pieces, Ready-to-Wear Results!

This book is chock-full of ideas! It has beautiful, detailed photographs showing all kinds of options with different fabrics, trims, sleeves, collars, and lengths -- all from one basic pattern. I really like this book with its interchangeable pattern pieces, however, it does not give any instruction on how to adjust the included pattern to fit problem areas such as large bust, narrow shoulders, full tummy, etc. Even so, I really like this book as a great resource in my sewing library.

This beautiful book provides much inspiration for sewist of all levels. The photography is wonderful and the book is printed on high quality paper with many close up pictures of very fine sewing. The pattern included in the book contains many options for various necklines, sleeve types and tunic lengths. These are the same tunics you would pay a pretty penny for in a retail shop. The tunic is appropriate for many figure types (make a muslin first) and occasions. I especially like the section on white fabrics and trims. If you are a beginner sewist, take a class especially if you have the opportunity to attend one of the author's workshops. Beginners never fear because the book contains lovely options for simple tunics to get you started. Add this book and pattern to your collection!

Great book and patterns. But, actually construction information is slim or non existent. For instance, no instructions on how to insert sleeves. Not a problem for experienced clothing makers but if you haven’t sewn clothing before, leaves you hanging. Great style ideas and variations. Also found some of the pattern pieces did not fit together as called for. Again, experienced sewers can figure it out. New sewers, not so much.

I purchased this book because I was attending a class because Sarah and Julie were the teachers. I hadn't sewed a garment in many years and decided to go for it. I quit sewing garments because I didn't know how to properly fit a pattern to me but this pattern worked. It fit me. With so many variations of the collar, sleeve, and length, I have already made one tunic and shopping for additional fabrics and trims to make more. The class was fun and they put on an interesting trunk show for us. Their creativity made everyone go home with inspiration.

You will need some basic sewing skills and understanding of the sewing process before embarking on this journey; but in the end, it will be worth it. The patterns in this book are beautiful! I had originally checked this book out at the library, but once I had read through it and saw the possibilities, then I wanted a copy for my permanent library.If you are new to sewing, do not despair. There are plenty of sewing tutorials online, which can help you get up to speed for this book. I have not yet sewn a pattern from the book, but have read it, and it seems to be well written, and quite creative. Once I do make one of the tunics, I'll adjust my review if needed. But so far, I'm very happy.

I have not brought out my sewing machine in quite some time. But I read this book all the way through and look forward to making some of the lovely tunics. They are clever and look easy to make. A well done book.

I borrowed this title from the online library in my community. It was so great I decided to purchase the book so I could have access to the patterns. This will give me a greater variety of options as I mewing a new wardrobe for traveling to Asia this spring.

I've read it 4 times over a week. Wanted to thoroughly understand the instructions. Book is well layed out. Good pictures. Easy to understand instructions. Have not tried a pattern yet but the info is spot on. If your at all interested in sewing shirts this is your book! Most other sewing books get too complicated or boring I just can't get thru most of them. The fact that I read it multiple times is huge. This should be in everyone's library that wants to sew! This should be one of the first books you buy, forget all the rest. No matter ur age this is the book for you. I have no affiliation with the author I'm just really impressed with this book. You will not regret this purchase.

I love this book! I found it whilst looking for something else and had to order it. The book takes you through the history (briefly) and types of tunics and then shows you how to mix and match necklines, sleeves, lengths to create your own garments. Patterns are provided. There are tunics for all occasions, fabrics, sizes. You could make a whole wardrobe of tops and dresses from t his book! Great value for money.

I have read this through and waiting for the holidays to make my first tunic!Huge fan of these ladies.
