although the subject matter from all those who have written - with obvious knowledge no less - is interesting, I have yet to view one who takes or makes some suggestion as to the contribution of the the Near East, i.e. Phoenicia and its clever inhabitants. It has been my sad acknowledgement that many of the academics from the past two centuries and even todate, find it difficult or refuse to admit the contribution Phoenician existance had to offer to the ancient world. Their considerable feats and dare I say features which the various classical civilisations did their utmost to discredit or to dis-establish are known and are being added to by the updating of archeological findings, but still continue to be refuted by past and current leading acadamics who think the world stopped with Rome and Greece. The existance of such an important ancient people who traded and brought many engineering and seamanship attributes to those, whose so called feats of daring did not run to venturing out of sight of land, seems very limited in intellect. We would all do well to remember that like ALL other races, Rome and Greece were equal to all societies in the beginnings with the limitations imposed on them by lack of knowledge and their village societies. It should be remembered that they learned from others whilst choosing to forget or destroy those others from whom they benefited to improve their standing in the ancient world. Likewise it appears that this also applies to a considerable number of current historians
