My top pick to recommend to friends
After months of searching, I found that choosing a good RC car to recommend was difficult. I now have 11 RC cars, from 1/24 scale Mini-Z and crawlers for indoor play, to 1/10 scale for the road or dirt. I tried Kyosho, Traxxas, WL-Toys, and HyperGo before buying this 1/16 scale Legendary Sonic for my 7-yr-old grandson. It stays here for when he visits, but it's become my personal favorite for several reasons besides price:* Responsive steering with no perceived lag makes it easier to drive than the others. 'More fun.* Easy to select full speed or 70% on the transmitter to match skill and driving conditions.* Fast brushless motor easily pulls wheelies at 70% and becomes almost too fast at 100%, flipping often.* Easy on/off button with no need to remove the body just to turn it on. 'Convenient.I now recommend it to all my friends as I gently nudge them from RC boats to RC cars. While it's too big & fast for inside driving, and a bit small for some off-road courses better suited for 1/10 scale, it's flexibility for most other conditions and easy drivability make it super fun and practical. I've had it for a month and raced many times with no mechanical issue, so I can't speak to maintenance. My HyperGo, on the other hand, seems to spend more time on the repair bench waiting for parts than actually driving it.

lil Bad Ass!!
I took it out this morning for the first time and was very impressed.. I like that you can adjust the steering for quick cornering or tighten it up (on the controller) for the long fast straightaways.. it is very quick and pretty fast. Suspension is pretty good, not great.. Overall, I give it 👍👍 Well worth the money..

Toss up in reality.
In the last week the grand kids have gotten into RC cars. So I bought this and then from the local shop I bought the Imex Shogun 1:12 scale.Right out the box this drives OK for a 1:12 scale brushless. The steering servo seems to drift a bit to the last direction turned. Not really a big deal just something to be aware of. The speed is probably closer to 28mph that is on the stock 2s battery. Might hit the 35mph with a 3s. Will have to look and see if the components can even handle that though.Between this and the Imex Shogun I would recommend the Sonic. While they are both about the same speed. And the Shogun does take a 3s battery with 0 issues. Upgraded parts are not readily available with out a lot of modification. While the Sonic has a lot of replacement parts easy to get here on Amazon. Along with a few upgraded parts that are available.Considering the boys are 9 and 11 I know there will be broken parts on both trucks.

Nice low price RTR fast vehicle at first time testing.
My first RC model purchase was 25 years ago it was a team associated rc10 with the gold tub and clear body you had to paint yoursel and I assembled it myself from every gear in the transmission to putting the correct oil in the shocks that I wanted for the stiffness and i loved itThere is nothing like assembling your own rc car and getting to know it inside and out. If i ever had a son i would have done that to his first real car.Taking it apart and making him reassemble it to have the chance to get to know all about his csr and really appreciate it.But as of right now kit kit cars are way past my budget .This vehicle out of the box the cheapness of the transmitter just made me cringe but once I pulled the vehicle out I was pleasantly surprised from how wel.l it looked made and looked very tough. I charge the batteries quick tested and make sure everything works it is way too fast to keep going in a confined space so I'm eager to see how well it will last out in the open. Now this vehicle looks like it might be able to Source replacement parts once they do break cuz it looks very serviceable. This vehicle at first glance looks like I can oil the shocks but you can't but there are spaces to add extra shocks which I like. It also looks like you can modify the body mounts you can raise or lower it to make it a better stance as you see fit. I am notorious for modifying my little Hobbies where a little cut here and there and I can make the vehicle higher for better ground clearance which I've been studying but we'll see if that can happen. Overall it looks very well built with the smallest amount of use of cheap parts but still too much plastic. My limited knowledge can't identify if it is regular plastic or so kind on reinforced plastic. The axle shafts and drive shaft look like some kind of metal which eases some of my concern. After some use I will do some mods if I can, especially recharging the batteries without having to remove them every time. Nor recommend if batteries get hot too often. This is not a toy for children but for teens wanting to get into to hobby for the first time or adults who just want to revisit their teenage past. Besides the pathetically looking transmitter this will be a keeper for me just as long the replacement parts are not hard to find and order.Correction, the shocks are oil filled. You can change the oil grade. Thick or thin to adjust the dampening as you like. I also started to find ways to adjust ride height to better clear obstacles. More corrections migh be coming as I do more experimts. I'veSpent more time with this car on the road and the trails. Behind my place. Update- my next mission is to keep this vehicle off its roof. The provided wheelie bars can only do so much. Since the speed is very fast I plan to make it more bottom heavy. This idea is not for beginner so be very aware on what you are planning and please know your r/c model inside and out. The complete breakdown comes in the manual. Do not let the price fool ,you did not buy a cheap little RC car toy. I myself am an actual car mechanic and when I have customers come in with problems I just want to yell ( believe me I don't do this but I just want to) R.T.F.O.M. Which stand for Read The Freaking Owners Manual. One last thing it getting rid of the front lights which are battery killers no matter how much power they use. And add some weight to the front bumper, that might help keep the buggy off its roof.Maybe more updates to come unless everybody has had enough of me.ha ha

These cars are sick!
The media could not be loaded. These are truly Hobby grade RC cars! I have 3 different versions 1/16 and 1/10 and they are tanks! Very fast, looks like a ton of upgrades since the stuff they show but very good.I give these he'll every day and they just take it.

No parts available!
Car was fun for a few months. Now 1 spring cup came off and no parts anywhere can be found online to order. Wasted over a hundred dollars because of a 10 cent piece coming off. Website doesn't work and phone number is bad.
