UPDATE TEC Fingerprint reader works if you touch and pull your finger very slightly
I have changed my rating to five stars from one star. Reader works almost every time when using finger movement. Only three stars because there was no information on installation and use of the product. To install , be sure to update windows and most importantly update the optional additional updates found a few lines down from the windows update line.USB-C Fingerprint reader worked great on my Windows 11 computer for about two months. Now works very seldom. Adding and redoing fingerprint makes it work again for a few days and then says clean reader, try other finger input passcode. Windows 11 is up to date and all aditional updates and drivers are installed. Reader fits loosly in USB-C port. I also bought the USB-A model from TEC but do not use it because it sticks out too far. Past the 30 day return. Do not see any warranty information. Should last more than 60 days. Probably should have bought the insurance. Not sure how it works. Maybe get back purchase price less insurance costs. Hello TEC, please respond. Is there a fix? Has this unit reached end of life? Do I have a defective unit? Are these fingerprint readers sold on Amazon 2nds, rejects or counterfit? They all come with no packaging like they may have been in a barrel of rejects. I do not see any replies from TEC, only Amazon taking responsibility for the shipment , whatever that means. JamesFingerprint reader seems to work most of the time when I touch the reader and slide my finger about a 1/16th of an inch. Has been working that way for two days now.

Doesn't work on Windows 11
It just doesn't work. I've dried drivers, trying it in other devices but windows 11 just says that it doesn't recognize a device compatible with windows hello. It worked once then never again

Good enough
It mostly works. two out of 10, you may have retry placing your fingers before it signs in..I just wish it was cheaper like under 10$ and probably smaller in size..For usb-c, this one has no competition as far as any other fingerprint reader selling on Amazon for this price.

Works
Plug and play, worked straight out of the box on my Windows 11 laptop. The dongle sits a little wiggly lengthwise in the ports. It might be 0.1 mm too small. This is my only complaint so far, and not a dealbreaker since it is currently the only compact, reasonably-priced USB-C reader I could find on the market. After setting up the Windows Hello for all 10 fingertips, I moved the reader from a laptop port to a docking station port. It worked, immediately recognizing my fingertips for unlocking windows. Now it takes more effort to lock the computer (Win+L) thanks to unlock it!

it worked the first few times and now forces me to enter my PIN all the time. the reason i bought it was so i didn't have to do that

Great Reader
Bought for Windows "Hello" on my new Lenovo Legion laptop that does not have fingerprint reader. Worked out of box did nothing but register fingers. Works very fast, much faster than typing password to log in to computer.

Must Have!!!
For those of us that have long secure passwords, it’s a pain to have memorize or enter it every time I want to log in or even log into my password managers.Previously had a USB-A version and loved it. New laptop came with two USB-C and had to upgrade. One of the best purchases I’ve made this year
