Ghost Of Tsushima: Directors Cut for PlayStation 5 [PS5] (PS5)

The game is very classy, superb graphics and world, interesting characters excellent combat and meaningful upgrades keep you engaged. However this is let down by being inspired by ubisoft style gameplay. Apart from some dialogue, the bulk of the game is automated rather than crafted. All the activities are variations of an automated design, once you have done a few, you have done them all. They may be excellently done, but the repetition kicks in eventually. Once you have taken down 30 or 40 forts, that play almost identically, you really have had enough of taking down forts. Its not helped by the fact that you only really fight mongol bands throughout the game. And these fights, however good, play out the same. You can go so far in the game because of all its classy plus points I highlighted, but basically the game boils down to the same fights with 8 mongols or so over and over again. I do not regret the time I spent on what I played of the game, but I could not stomach more than clearing the first island. Most of the sidequests, boiled down to a brief chat, following footprints and then having it out with a bunch of mongols in various automated and predictable ways. Most of the glowing reviews did not emphasise this enough frankly I would have waited for it to become a great deal cheaper had I known. I may not even have bothered to be honest.
