VSPMC16 Variable Speed Pump Motor Cover

I was a little skeptical because the cover didn't look like it would be wide enough near the base to accommodate my side-electrical conduit. After I trimmed some nearby bushes, I simply slipped the cover on and it fit! On the Hayward Ecostar pump, there is a vertical PCV pipe which is now blocking the unit from slipping closer to the basket filter. In other words, the cover is now about 3" longer than needed on the other closed-top end. Because of other projects around my home, I haven't completed the trim, yet when I started by marking each side of the pipe with a knife, it was fairly easy to score. It appears that it will be easy to trim a half-circle cutout to fit around the pipe. Don't get me wrong; this is not a flimsy thin cover like other plastic units on the market. It's quite thick and has substantial weight -- which has prevented it from blowing over in our Florida afternoon thunderstorms. Because of the curved top and the lower ventilation holes, it was successfully designed to allow the wind to blow over the cover, yet open enough to prevent over heating our pump. Before I ordered the cover, our first Ecostar electrical panel (called a motor drive D3) was replaced under warranty and it showed water leakage as the possible failure cause. The Hayward technician stated the replacement D4 is not only a better system, it has a better and more secure seal. In spite of the improvement, when I discussed building some type of cover for the pump, he liked the idea; and commented that it would protect the pump from our tremendous downpours. He stated the cover may keep the unit cooler too -- shaded from direct sunlight. However, he did warn me against closing the unit in -- it needs ventilation. So when I saw this cover, read the Amazon reviews, and then realized it had the needed vents, I didn't hesitate to order. What a great idea! I highly recommend everyone with an expensive new variable-speed pool pump to order this particular cover -- protect your investment! Such a simple design, well thought out, it should last for years (PVC construction), and it works great!

It's like a carport for my pool motor. Taller than expected, but works great and well made. I still need to figure out how to secure it a little better. I would like it to stay in place in Florida storms and high winds.

Does exactly what it is supposed to, but ridiculously over priced (like most things for pools). It is a simple 2 piece cover with the main piece being the inverted “U” with a small back cover. It is a nice grade of plastic.

I replaced my single speed pump with a variable speed model. I've 🐝 looking for a sun cover for a while but nothing seemed to suit my needs.Then I saw this cover. Wow! I hoped that it would fit and I was not disappointed. It is a perfect fit! Just perfect. I'm thinking about buying two more. One for my Polaris booster pump and one to cover the other end of my pump.Thanks for your wonderful product!

This cover should work ok but its exposed to the Florida sun that eats plastic.

This is a pretty pump cover for a larger scale pump. I returned it not because it was a bad product but because it was too large for our sprinkler pump. I think it looks really nice as well as functional for protecting the pump. I purchased the smaller version and would purchase either one again, if needed!

I bought the smaller cover first and it was about 3” too short. this one is perfect
