This was a re-order, to use at a second home, because I enjoyed the first purchase of this knife so much. The second knife was just as beautiful and graceful and enjoyable to use as the first has been. It has good heft and cuts superbly, both big things like watermelon, and little things like chopping onions. You can feel good about purchasing this. I feel it's a very good value (hope they don't raise the price!! - I may get more for gifts!!!)

The knife promptly arrived in a neatly packaged box. It was razor-sharp, and it felt comfortable in my hand. I washed it, and got it ready for use. I tried it out on celery, tomatoes and then some crusty bread. It easily cut through all of these. The bread was not perfect, but this knife isn't meant for slicing bread. This is a chef's knife, and if you're going to be cutting carrots, onions, celery, and such, this is perfect. I also tried it for trimming some meat and chicken and on this, it was okay. It's definitely sharp enough to do the job, but the blade itself is broad and does not lend itself to this kind of work. The last thing I tested it out on was cake and pie. For this, it also worked well. Over the last month of use, the blade has needed some touching up. I used the sharpener that was provided for this, and it does the job. The only con I have is that while sharpening the edge with the sharpener, I have incurred a bit of a roll. I am not sure how this happened, but I used a stone later on, and that seemed to correct the problem. Overall, this is a great knife.

This is the best knife I’ve ever owned for the price point

I have another knife styled like this knife that I use for veggies. I bought this knife for use with meats. It is pleasing to the eye, well balanced in the hand and performs exceedingly well on whatever I unleash it on. It’s extremely sharp and easy to keep sharp as well. In fact, I’ve started using it for almost all my cutting needs in the kitchen.

Only had the knife for a couple days, feels good in the hand but this isn't about the knife at this point. It's about the sharpener. Cool, they include one. It was what tipped the scales as I assumed it would have some kind of instructions. It does not. Not a single word about it on the pretty packaging. It has to kinds of sharpeners in it. I think one might be for traditional western blades and one for Japanese blades. But I am not sure. One side is a light color and the other dark, so this could actually be grit. Who knows and quite frankly that kind of pisses me off. By the way, there is no manufacturer website to look. Pretty stupid if you ask me.
