Los Chileros Blue Corn Pancake and Waffle Mix, 16 Ounce

Very unique flavor

I'm not quite clear why the folks who blended this mix felt the need to use BOTH baking powder and baking soda; worse yet, following their pancake instructions to the letter - one egg, way too much mix, not enough milk - shows up that not so pleasant, assertive "saltiness" others have noticed, which is really just the soda peeking through.That might be a deal breaker for some but not, of course, in this house: I adjusted the mix ratio in the recipe, boosted the milk, stayed with the one egg, and this is my third rebuy. Adjusted as so, this makes for pancakes the way I like them, light on my tummy, filled with grainy goodness, with that telltale blue corn nuttiness I love.

The mix makes very good pancakes. The flavor was very good. As they cooked they puffed up to a nice kind of dense thickness. They absorbed the syrup instead of it just running off. The texture may make some people unhappy, but remember, they are made with corn meal and won't have the same texture as regular pancakes. Try the Prickly Pear syrup with them. Yummy!

These are sooo good. I have a mini bunny waffle iron and used the pancake recipe. They came out perfect and we’re a huge hit with my family. We made a simple blackberry syrup to go with it. Will definitely keep buying this mix! It’s awesome.

Not my favorite. Okay, I guess. A little too gritty for me. This was an add-on purchase. I like having Prime to try stuff like this.

The flavor is just so so for us

This was great. The consistency is different than a normal pancake, which I expected because a) it's corn and b) other reviews warned me. It kind of had the grittiness that comes with cornbread, not bad just different. As for the taste, they were great. We are a big pancake family, so I wanted to try something new and different and this was great. I will definitely order this mix again.
