Q: How does it work for cats?

Might be better than for dogs. It has to be touched to snap. So a curious cat might touch it and be scared.

Q: Is this for one package with 2 'snappers' per package?

My purchase was for two packages or four trainers. Each packages was a two pack.

Q: Does it actually snap the dogs paw??

No. When the dog touches the red paddle, the trap goes off making the entire unit jump off not the air. Scary, but there is no chance of a dogs paw getting caught in the trap.

Q: Would this work ok for a rabbit?

It should. But my cat figured out how to ignore them and your rabbit may as well.
