Body Count: FBI-K9 Series

A brilliant segueβ¦
When I read the synopsis on the back of Body Count, book 2 in the FBI-K9 series by Jodi Burnett, I thought that I was about to lose the friendship I had built with the principal characters of Avenging Adam. Such, however, was not to be the caseβ¦thankfully. What the author did was to simply shift the positioning of the principal characters of the first book to the secondary position in the second book and the reverse. So, Susan Bell becomes the central character and Burke Cameron her cohort. Susan, though not a member of the FBI, heads to a workshop for would-be female entrepreneurs in the Rocky Mountain woods. Susan had signed up for a river-rafting adventure with five other women at the beginning of the workshop, but within a few pages the trip went startlingly awry. Much of the remainder of the book involves the recounting of a series of event that sorely tests Susanβs survival capabilities. The author Burnett has an addictive ability to draw the reader into her storyline, to empathize strongly with the characters, and to provide ultimately a very satisfying, although emotionally draining read. Donβt worryβ¦the dogs have an important role to play also. I highly recommend Body Count for readers who enjoy thrillers, even romantic thrillers. Be sure, however, to begin with Avenging Adam and to have the remaining books in this series on hand so as not to have to wait to move from one to the next.

4*+ - Surprising Thriller!
I have become a fan of this author after receiving the ARC of the first book in this series and then deciding to go back and read her other books from the prior series. Luckily they are on KU! Although you donβt need to read the books in order to enjoy this one, you may want to!!This is the story of Susan Bell, who has recently started dating FBI Agent Burke Cameron, who she met when she was attacked by a serial killer. Although there is an attraction, Susan and Burke are very different people and as they start dating it is highlighted in activities they chose to share with each other. One thing this author does really well and shows how people develop in a relationship.Susan goes to a womenβs business retreat in the Rocky Mountains and disappears with the other women she was traveling with. This is where the book goes on a journey I didnβt expect and I was hooked. With her disappearance, Burke asks his colleagues for help using their K-9 partners. The story has a lot of action and adventure that kept me reading! A great story with fantastic characters that I really enjoyed.

Iβm not good at reviewing, but I so enjoyed this book and the 1 before it. It held my attention, kept me entertained and on the edge of my seat. I didnβt find any grammatical or spelling errors, no awkward sentences which allowed me to sit back and enjoy the book. I hate misspells and poor grammar. Iβll look forward to the next one.

She did it again!
Another riveting thriller with our favorite FBI agents and their wonderful K-9s, terrible scary stuff up in the Colorado mountains and lots of touching romance, human foibles, misunderstandings and delightful reconciliations. Enjoy! Oh and ya gotta love those sloppy dog kisses tooπΆπβπ¦Ίπ€©

Exciting
Thrilling and intense in the search for Susan. Losing members on the raft trip was mysterious. Then the heart warming of reuniting Susan found by Annie the K9.

Wonderful book.
This story was fantastic and a little scary, but with a lot of hard work from great noses and hard working F.B.I. agents the case was solved. Thank you very much for sharing your world of FBI-K9 with us yet again.

I could not put this book down! It was fantastic. The search for Susan was amazing. The dogs trailing over so many miles was fantastic.

Good read but not as good as the first in the series
Passion and romance don't seem to be the author forte, but I very.much enjoyed learning about the training and various roles those amazing animals fill. Good strong well developed characters.I drive by the FBI facility at least once a week, don't really see how you could view the front range from threre.

Enjoyable read with a thriller centre
Like the first book in this series, this is a cozy, feet up romance wrapped around a story about a lunatic and a life and death drama. Not mind bending, but the search and rescue element only heightens my admiration for dogs. I like this kind of book as a break from more intense reading, and, since I don't go for pure romance or erotica, it's great that these books have a proper story - and heroic dogs!

Body Count is another page-turner story that I had to read in one sitting.I enjoyed to go back and read more about Susan and Burke because I loved them in the first book and they definitely needed more time to grow their relationship and feelings.Somehow, the author manages to surprise me every time I try a new book by her.She writes turning points that I personally havenβt read much before and maybe itβs because I lived sheltered in big cities around the world and, as crazy as it sounds, it always gave me a fake safety sensation but itβs quite interesting to see how everything develops in this story and how, even after reading the books, I go back and think about those situations, what would I do and how would I react to them.Susan is a smart and strong independent woman and she amazed me with her abilities to keep herself in check during everything she went through but also for her compassion at the end, something that many people would not even think about giving a second of their thoughts. Burke is the perfect hero in every possible way and together they are the perfect couple to a happily ever after story.
