Kitty Caps Saved My Chihuahua's Eye From Kitty's Diabolical Double Tap!
When I rescued Juno I already had a Chihuahua, Ozzy, and they were both the same size (Juno has since proven to be a "big girl" and outweighs Ozzy by about 2 lbs). While Ozzy has been a completely gentleman towards Juno, Juno being the feisty loveable girl she is, likes to tell him what's what, which includes butt pats when he's walking by or the occasional double-tap (and once an amazing triple tap!) on his little head. I became worried about Ozzy's eyes (being a Chihuahua they bulge out) and tiny wet nose. So, I bought these kitty caps to cover Juno's nails and protect Ozzy's delicate face. They work great! Not only do they protect Ozzy from getting hurt - and oh how he's been whacked by her! - but it's helped my carpet and my skin when handling her. Some info about the caps: They are vinyl and flexible. You get 40 caps, 20 caps in each color. I believe it's meant for both front and back paws, but I just use them on Juno's front paws which helps stretch out a box longer. You also get two tubes of glue that look like Krazy Glue and behaves like Krazy Glue and smells like Krazy Glue. Also included are two pink filling tubes that look like skinny funnels that you put on top of the glue stick to be able to fill the glue into the very bottom (inside) the cap. The pink skinny funnels are useful for about the first time you use it since the glue tends to clog the hole.I took off a star because the glue. It really is like dealing with Krazy Glue, so you have to be careful or else you can glue your finger pads together or worse, your finger to your cat's fur, which I did accidentally one night and I swear I think Juno had hate in her eyes afterwards. The glue stick is the kind where you have to take a pair of scissors to cut the tip to open it up, which can get glue on the scissor blades, and good luck getting it off. You're supposed just fill the cap half-way with glue, but since the cap is opaque in color and shaped like a half moon, it's hard to see how much you're filing up. The pink funnels are useful, but again, they become useless after the first or second time using them since they get clogged up. But practice makes perfect and I'm a lot better at eye-balling the glue-filling today than I was when I first got these caps more than a year ago. Just be really careful not to overfill. That's how the whole finger-stuck-to-cat debacle happened. It just gets glue everywhere, and you want to avoid getting any glue on the outside of the cap, even if it's just a drip, because that causes fur to stick to the cap when you put it on. That happened, too, and I got quite worried she would be in pain, but it turned out OK. Too little glue just results in the cap falling right off.The caps last about 2 - 3 weeks. Sometimes longer. They are reusable, if you can find them. Sometimes I'll find a lone cap on the carpet and it feels like I found gold. Since they do fall off at random times, you will need to do touch-ups. If the cap has been on for the full time, be sure you check the nail since it's probably long and dangerous by then. I didn't realize a cap had fallen off, and Juno went to paw my hand. Well that nail hooked into my skin and for a moment I really empathized with mice and birds. This goes without saying, but use these caps only on indoor-only cats. Without being able to use their nails, the cat would be defenseless outside. So how does Juno like having her nails done? Well, she seems okay with it. She doesn't walk any differently. In the beginning, she may try to use her mouth to pull off the cap, but typically isn't able to. Juno is a really great cat, so, putting these caps on her are a breeze. I do get angry stares and angry meows, but the whole manicure takes about 10 minutes plus 5 minutes to make sure the glue dried.BTW - I thought the pink glitter nail would be GLITTERED like a disco ball. But it isn't. It's barely noticeable, mostly because the cap is kind of transparent and the glitter isn't very pronounced. It's my least favorite since I was really hoping to make my girl look blinged out. The solid white/pink nails are pretty. You can't see the white once they're on (and Juno has black fur), so it just looks like hot pink nails.Hugs to your kitties!

Good product but dont count on getting the color you order
Ordered these based on a recommendation from our vet to help our naughty kitty. They work great and she doesn’t mind them at all! However we didn’t receive the color we order so I placed another order and once again was sent the wrong color. I cannot attest to the application as our vet did it for us.

Works great while they are on.
I like this item when it is on my cat. First off let me say that these look really cool when they are on and work great to stop scratching. The cat still tries to scratch, but just doesn't hurt anything. Now the not so good, getting these things on is definitely a two person job. My cat is normally very nice and sweet, but he does growl and has tried to bite while applying these. The issue is that you have to push these on with a little bit of force, and I'm not sure if he dislikes the having to push them up so far on his nail,or it's just the pressure on his feet. So we've found it necessary to have someone hold him securely while he growls like a maniac while applying the nail. (We are trying to help him by not getting him declawed, based on all the terrible stuff I've read on-line, he doesn't seem to understand that though! ;) ) We did trim the nails well before applying, too. Some of the covers only made it about a week, others have lasted now for at least three weeks. When one comes off, we trim the nail and apply a new one of a different color(I've got four), that way it's easier to track how long they are staying on. I could keep notes, but that would be a little too efficient for me! My cat is eight pounds and we ordered the small, based on the directions, but I wonder if a medium would be any easier to apply and work better. The price here on Amazon is comparable to what they charge at our local PetSmart, but the selection here is better. I just hate to spend the money on a bigger size to find that they don't work well. So, for now, we're continuing with using these. If it pans outs that it is too much trouble in the long run, then we'll probably have to have him declawed. Especially if he doesn't make it any easier to put these on. At this point, we're not sure which would cause him less pain in the long run. So, to sum it up, the product while applied works wonderfully. The application and durability are the only issues we are having right now, thus the four stars.

Didn't receive the color pictured
I don't love the color I received. They were easy to apply and have stayed on so far and my kitty doesn't notice them being on.

If My Cat's Wouln't Chew Them off They'd Be Great.
First things first, my cats are angels and they don't scratch on a thing in the house. The only reason I purchased these was because I was moving into a new apartment that would only allow declawed kittys. Well, they said they'd settle with a kitty that has caps on their nails so they don't scratch. So, I went with these. They really are great in the sense that if you had a cat that scratched everything, they wouldn't be able to anymore.Application was far more difficult than stated though. I usually have my fiancee help with things like trimming nails and baths and such, but I was home alone when I got these, so I gave it a shot alone. The cats just don't like their claws popped out like that. So, they fought a bit, but in the end allowed me to glue these all on.My biggest complaint is that the cats were so easily able to chew some of these off (after a few days that is) that it wasn't really worth it. Then, when they had all but two off, the two that didn't come off also didn't come off for a really really long time. I actually emailed the company and they told me how to remove them. That didn't work, so I ended up having to kind of cut them off. It didn't damage their claws or anything, but it just seemed so cruel to me.BUT, that all being said, if you really need an alternative to declawing (or you just have a crazy kitty :P ) I would say these would work, because they do. Just make sure you have someone there to help you!
