Not perfect but warm and a lovely read
This is not a perfect book in any way. But the sense of humour comes across beautifully and the warmth also. You will like the characters and I'm glad to say there are no 'misunderstandings'.. Considering the series is called Mixed Messages I almost didn't read the book because I hate books where person a means one thing but says something else or sees something and misunderstands it and drags the angst out unnecessarily throu2the full book. There is some angst here but it's for good reason if that makes any sense. The characters had to grow and they did. Heart-warming. I love the side characters too.

Amazing!
Why am I only finding Lily Morton books now? I'm so late to the party. But I'm glad I made it. I love, love, love this book.Reading a strong, witty and self assured character like Dylan was a treat. It was very well written and the pacing was good. Not once did I feel like putting it down.I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, sexy, beautiful romance. On my way to read some of her other books now!

passionnant !!

Wonderful Story.
Reading this was kinda like being on a roller coaster, you start off nice and calm, toddling along, it’s pleasant, it’s funny. Then things change and tension sets in, your climbing and it’s a little thrilling but you’re nervous, then, uh oh, you plunge into the depth of angst, and it’s horrible. After a bit you feel calm again, you’re chugging along, nice and safe until, it happens again, but it’s worse this time.I did love this story, I enjoyed Gabe and Dylan, but this was gut wrenching and heart breaking, at one point I thought I’d have to put the book aside, it saddened me so much. Gabe is a broken man, life has been more than tough for him, he doesn’t like emotions, doesn’t trust them, he holds himself distant. He doesn’t do relationships so when he realizes he feels something for Dylan he has to close those feeling off and act cold. Heart breaking. I love the epilogue, where the two men narrate their feelings for each other. This author always gives you your money’s worth, this was an amazing story.

So romantic is hurts
It's hard to write a boss-employee romance without it crossing into creeper territory at some point. I was sure this one would considering they had a two-year work relationship, but Lily Morton handled this perfectly.Dylan is a legal assistant to Gabe, an attorney. Gabe is about a dozen years older and is rude, cocky, indelicate, and quite a man-whore. He fell for Dylan 30 seconds into the interview and went about putting up walls to keep Dylan at a distance. Assistants only last a few months working with him until Dylan came along. Dylan sees the genius in Gabe and doesn't take the insults personally. He is insubordinate and tosses back the verbal jabs, which makes for a fantastic repartee and a special connection that only they have with each other. Everyone around them can see the sparks, their connection, and the sexual tension except them. Fast-forward two years to a gay club scene where they see each other out of the office in a real setting for the first time and things start to get weird.I loved Dylan. He's funny and has such depth he's like a real person I want to hang out with. Nothing throws him and he handles everything with maturity and class, which is vital when dealing with the whirlwind that is Gabe. After a couple of post-club business trips together get too close for comfort, their relationship changes. Fortunately, all of this develops outside the confines of their workspace, so it's not uncomfortable that way.Gabe, always protective of Dylan, finds himself also being jealous and possessive. Yeah, Gabe is an a-hole and you want to hate him for so many things he does to hurt Dylan, but Dylan is so in love that you cheer on Gabe anyway and hope he gets his act together. This story is so romantic (as well as steamy), it made my heart hurt to read it. It's the kind of love you can only hope to find in another person. The characters are so well written and the story so good that this would make a great TV/web series. A definite recommend.
